Eastern Electra #3
Eastern actually entered the "jet Age" on October 8, 1958 with the delivery of N-5502. The airliner served Eastern through December of 1971, when it was sold to Air Manila. It is shown in its later colors on this IAWP Historical issue.

Eastern Electra #1
This splendid Aviation World issue features N5501 which first flew on May 16, 1958, and was ultimately delivered in January of 1959. It was leased to SAM of Colombia in 1969, serving there for 8 years.

A very short lived tail logo appears on this Electra, N 5524, Delivered in Feb of 1959, I believe it is still operational with Air Spray of Canada. Card is an IAWP Historical issue.

To this day, one of my favorite postcards, this splendid Eastern issue features N8607, delivered in February of 1960. Sadly, it was written off in a crash into Lake Pontchartrain in 1964.

This excellent IAWP Historical issue features N-8614, delivered in August of 1961 wearing the Golden Falcon livery. After 12 years it went to Overseas National, and wore the special Confederate historical colors.

An absolutely splendid postcard view of N-8702E, their 2nd Boeing 720, delivered in August of 1961. After 8 years with Eastern it was sold back to Boeing for resale to Voyager 1000.

This very nice Dexter issue also features N8702E at take off. It last flew with Ambassadair, and is featured as Miss Indy on the Ambassadair postcard.

One final in flight view, featuring  N8713E delivered in November of 1961. It served Eastern for 9 years, and was sold to Calair of Germany. Three years later it was sold to Air Rhodesia where it flew for 13 more years.

Eastern 727-100 #1
Eastern was the first to fly the 727, and ultimately operated an amazing 172 aircraft. This one, N8102N, was delivered on Nov. 15, 1963, serving for 19 years. Card is an Aviation World issue

This outstanding Dexter issue features N-8104N in flight. It flew for Eastern for 19 years and was later converted to a freighter for Amerijet. Its last operations were in Eritrea, where it remains near Asmara Airport

Another outstanding Dexter issue from 1969 featuring 8125N.This airliner was delivered in January of 1965, and later became N505FE flying for Federal Express. It was wfu in 2001

Many of Eastern's aircraft flew with a Bi-Centennial emblem in 1976. This outstanding Frontier Productions issue features N8147N in flight. It flew with Eastern until August of 1989, and was sold to Express One. Card kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu.

The 727-225s began joining Eastern's fleet in August of 1969. Shown on this Frontier Productions issue is N-8831E, Delivered in November of 1969, it operated until the sad end of this great airline.It was subsequently sold to Aeroexo of Mexico

For a number of years, Eastern went back to the silver livery as shown on this card of N 8844E. Delivered in September of 1970, it was later leased to Pan American, and finished its service with Kabo Air of Nigeria

A very nice Vita Nova issue featuring N8870Z, delivered in November of 1976. After the collapse of Eastern, it became a FedEx freighter, operating until 2012.

The last of the 727 cards features N8879z delivered in the silver paint scheme. It was leased to Bahamasair in  1989, and went to Delta in 1991. In 1993 it became N468FE for FedEx.

Eastern DC-9-14 #1
The new DC-9 was introduced to Eastern's fleet on April 26, 1966. Shown on this IAWP Historical issue is N-8901E, the first DC-9 delivered. It later served with Texas International and Continental before export to Colombia for Intercontinental de Aviacion in Colombia. There it was written off on approach to Cartagena in 1995

A great view of Eastern's N8981E, a 31 model delivered in November of 1968. It served 23 years, before the sad demise of Eastern. Afterwards, it served 4 years with Servivensa, and continued another 8 years with Aerorepublica of Colombia. Card is a Flying Books Issue.

In additin to the 61s, Eastern added 6 DC-8-63s to their fleet. This Aviation Cards issue features N-8757, delivered on Nov. 15, 1969.  It operated only until 1972, when sold to CP Air. It finished its career in 2001 with Emery.

Eastern 747-100
The delays in Lockheed Tristar production prompted Eastern to lease 3 747s from Pan American for their busiest routes. Shown on this AeroGem issue is N735 PA, which operated from November, 1970 through April of 1972

The first of Eastern's Tristars arrived in April of 1972 after a number of delays. Shown on this very nice Eastern issue is N-301EA which was the 1st production Tristar, rolled out on Dec. 9, 1970. It ultimately was delivered in March of 1973, and served until  March 1989.

Although Eastern's Tristars flew for quite a while in the silver livery, few cards were issued. This one, from Aviation World features N-317EA, delivered in July of 1973. After the shutdown of Eastern, it became N784 DA with Delta, but was wfu by 2000.

The first of Eastern's DC-9-51s arrived in July of 1977. After the first 10, Eastern was able to acquire 16 more on the used market from several airlines.  Shown on this EAH Publications issue is N991EA, which served through the end of Eastern and became a TWA aircraft.

Eastern was the first American operator of the A-300, in 1977. This outstanding Aviation World issue features N-204EA, still wearing its delivery registration. It served until the sad demise of Eastern.

Airbus made a huge effort to place the A-300 in service with an American airline, and Eastern used that to acquire a substantial fleet under very favorable terms.  N227EA, shown on this EAH issue, was delivered in                October of 1982, serving 8 years before it was leased to Pan American.

In 1983 Eastern began taking delivery of a fleet of 25 new 757-225s.This nice Aviation World issue shows N-501EA, delivered in August. It served until the closure, and was picked up by NASA.

In 1986 Eastern added 3 ex Alitalia DC-10-30s to service their long range destinations. They were N-390, 391, and 392 EA.  They went to Continental just prior to the shutdown of Eastern. Card is an Eastern Issue

Eastern Concorde KCF
Like many airlines, Eastern fantasized about operating the Concorde. The card is from a special series on the Concorde shared by Kuo-Ching Fu.

Eastern  Express DC-3
As with all major airlines, it became mutually beneficial to contract for feeder services with existing commuter airlines. In Florida, PBA fed Eastern flights with DC-3s as well as commuter aircraft. N137PB was acquired by PBA in 1971, but served as Eastern Express in the late 1980s
