 1 Japan Air System DC-9-40 #1TH The DC-9-40s served TDA well for many years, but on Jan 17, 1997, the last flight, #224 from Misawa to Tokyo was completed. New MD-80s and later MD-90s replaced the earlier DC-9s. This card published I believe by a Japanese aviation magazine, is kindly shared by Terry Hale.
|  2 Japan Air System YS-11 The YS-11s did operate as Japan Air System aircraft, but were beginning to be sold off by 1989. The last YS-11 operation was on March 8, of 1996. This excellent view of JA 8765 is a Privacy Publishing issue. The airliner was delivered new to Toa Airways in 1970, and was sold in 1992, operating 7 more years for Air Caribbean.
|  3 Japan Air System A-300 #1 TDA had put the A-300 in service in 1980, and issued several cards of the aircraft. Japan Air System featured the aircraft prominently, operating a total of 39 aircraft, and winning performance awards for their operation.

|  10 Japan Air System A-300 #3 The first A-300 B4 entered the JAS fleet in 1987, and several additional B-4 aircraft were delivered in 1988, including this one, JA 8276, acquired from Hapag Lloyd. It operated until 2003.

|  18 Japan Air System DC-10-30 #1 The first DC-10-30 was delivered to JAS in December of 1997. The DC-10s initiated routes to Hawaii and Singapore as the airline established itself as an international airline. Shown on this JAS issue is JA 8550, which operated for 7 years, and then joined JAS' charter subsidiary Harlequin Air. In 2000 it was sold to Northwest. Today it is flying as a water bomber.

 53 Japan Air Commuter DO-228 #1 In July of 1983, Japan Air Commuter was launched, similar to the commuter affiliates of various US airlines. JA 8835, shown on this outstanding JAC issue was delivered in September 1983.

 77 Hokkaido Air Saab 340 #3 Hokkaido Air System was launched in 1998 as a joint venture with JAS and Hokkaido government entities. Three new Saab 3450Bs were acquired for the services. Shown on this card from the 2000 JAS Calendar series is JA01HC delivered in Feb 1998.

 81 Harlequin DC-10-30 #1 Harlequin Air was created in 1997 as a charter subsidiary of JAS, and equipped with this DC-10-30 and 1 MD-82. This excellent Harlequin issue shows JA-8550 in the striking Harlequin colors. After 3 years it was sold to Northwest.
