 11 D H L DC-8-73F #1 D H L, a name derived from, the initials of its founders Dalsey, Hillblom and Lynn, was created as a courier service in 1969. By the 80s it was competing with Federal Express, and caught the attention of Deutsche Post, which acquired it in 2002. In August of 2003 it acquired Airborne Express, and its Wilmington operating base. It has become the world's largest air logistics company, serving world wide destinations. The above card, features N801DH, a DC-8-73 model acquired from Air Canada
|  12 D H L Convair 580 #1 In 2009, DHL withdrew from parcel pick up and delivery in the USA, but continued to expand in the cargo markets. A wide range of aircraft from various contractors have served DHL, from twin props to 777's. Shown on the above card is OO-HUB. Born as a Convair 340 for National Airlines in 1953, it served Allegheny, Freedom and Air Ontario, where it was converted to 580 F . in 1988 it was acquired by European Air to serve DHL.
|  13 D H L Convair 580 #2 This outstanding EAH issue features N 73162, originally a Sabena Convair 440, converted to a 580 by Frontier. It served for several years as an American Eagle aircraft before becoming A DHL freighter.
|  14 D H L Vickers Merchantman This Vickers "Merchantman" was delivered to BEA as a Vanguard in 1961, and converted to a freighter in 1969. It later went to Air Bridge Carriers, and was operated for DHL after 1989 Card is a FlightDeck issue.

 71 FEDERAL EXPRESS Cessnas at Del Rio EVH The Cessna Caravans have found enormous use with FedEx, with nearly 400 employed at various times. This unusual card from the Del Rio Airport is shared by Eddie Van Haute, and shows 2 of the Caravans on the ramp.
|  72 Federal Express DC-10-10CF In 1980, FedEx began acquiring and refurbishing several Continental DC-10 CF aircraft. Updated cockpit and other refinements resulted in them being designated MD-10-10Fs. This great Aviation World issue, shows one, N-68055, which went in service in 1980 which operated 16 years before written off from an in Flight fire. Many more from American and United were ultimately converted, creating a fleet of 95 DC-10 freighters.
