1 the Jiri to Everest route (in yellow)	2 this bus took us from Kathmandu to Shivalaya, via Jiri (10 hours total); bumpiest ride I've ever had	3 the inside of the bus; note it was so bumpy that the back seat cushion popped out	4 Shivalaya dinner that made me sick later
5 lodge in Shivalaya (1800m) for the night before the trek began	6 breakfast in Shivalaya on day 1	7 leaving Shivalaya, it has expanded a lot since the road from Jiri was built	8 afternoon of day 1, about to descend to Kinja (the last hour was in the dark)
9 dinner in Kinja (1634m)	10 early morning on day 2, 11 hours of hiking today	11 donkeys near Lamjura La	12 had a hot chocolate break here to get out of the rain/snow/hail before descending to Junbesi
13 near Lamjura La (1900 metres higher than Kinja)	14 morning of day 3 in Junbesi (2675m)	15 our first view of snowcapped mountains	16 afternoon of day 3: on the way from Junbesi to spend the night in Nuntala
