San Francisco & Oregon 2004
Trip to San Francisco and Portland, Oregon.

In San Francisco I attempted to capture some of the unique features of San Francisco living.  Featured are high density residence areas in the Marina district, upscale residences near the bay across from Palace of The Arts, and the larger and elegant homes in the beautiful view area of Pacific Heights.

There are a few images of typical tourist spots (cable cars, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge), and finally the famous old Army base, The Presidio.

The remainder of our trip to Portland for reunion of Charlie Co., 1st Marines provided the opportunity to take random shots in the areas visited plus several scenes in and around Shasta, California.

These beautiful residences have the same view of the palace as seen in previous photo.

Although heavily populated, streets are quiet and super clean.

First image in Pacific Heights.  Most homes are in Multi-million $ range and have breath taking views.

Pacific Heights is several square blocks of mostly old, but some new homes, all spectacular.

Wonderful mixture of styles and colors.  Note the extra wide sidewalk.

Just a "ho hum" view of SF Bay, Palace of The Arts, Golden Gate, and The Presidio.

Even on a cool, gray day, there is an abundance of colors and textures.

All the homes appear to be perfectly kept, with walls and trim freshly painted.

One of my favorite blocks.  The fourth house from the corner appears to be near new, a closer look coming up.

This house appears to be quite new, and awesome.  The one on the left isn't exactly an ugly duckling either.

The chain across the bottom of the stairs probably means "no soliciting."

Now that's a retaining wall!  Seems to have survived an earthquake or two based on its age.

Main base buildings and old parade ground of The Presidio.  An emotional tour of these old grounds.

A closer view of the parade ground.  Reminds me of The Marine Corps Base in San Diego, although entirely different architecture, but a similar feeling.
