Day 1: Descend into Owl Canyon from rim to camp at Pouroff Pool.

enlarge 93KB, 800x600 1 ut07-d1-001r Well, the old "Silver Bullet" (1985 Camry) aka "Gray Ghost" made it. We had planned a trip back to the Escalante, but a late April snowfall made the roads impassable so we opted to spend a night in Hanksville and drive on to Cedar Mesa the next morning in hopes of landing a permit. Fortunately we were able to get a permit for the Owl and Fish Canyon loop and made it to the trailhead (the road was not bad) not too late in the morning.	enlarge 98KB, 800x600 2 ut07-d1-002r Eric had a bad foot and was unable to make the trip through the canyon, so he was going to camp out on the mesa top and spend his time reading and getting in touch with his inner self.

There is a big pouroff here, which requires a long switchback into the left side canyon.
