Fred making his way up the meadows on the Dog Lake High Route: After trudging up and down on the Boise Trail, you reach the junction with the Dog Lake High Route (About 5 miles from Lower Cannon Lake). The trail shown on the Topo map was pretty much obliterated by the 1994 fires, with the most difficult route finding near the start. Here and there are vague remnants of trail - its not too difficult to pick your way up to the lake. The most difficult part was at the end with a steep climb, dubbed "Hell Hill" by our small group.
