This is a dress for my auditions for Project runway. I wanted to show one of my costumes, a RTW, and an evening. I've always loved the drape and feel of silk chiffon over a layer of charmeuese, so that's what this dress is made of. A beautiful plum charmeuese under layer with a black silk chiffon overlay, and a silk flower at the shoulder, it will be 'tied' with a satin ribbon or a ruched chiffon belt, I haven't quite decided yet.
The fabric, simple draped on the form to show the idea.
The under layer fabric.
The underdress.
The back, just an idea pinned in place for now.
Simple necklace to wear with it. *This was nixed later due to the flower pin on the shoulder competing with the necklace.
The finished necklace.
The pinned top.
Showing what the finished look should be.
Top
The flower AND the necklace were jsut too much together.
The pinned back.
Ribbon tape to hide the raw edges and give it a more finished look. French seamed the inside seams too.
Double rolled hem and french seaming!
I added some 'bling' to the flowert to give it a little more drama.
The Back on the dress form.
Victorian filigree inspired bracelet I made to go with the gown. I wanted something 'Old Hollywood' looking :-)
Close up. It was very simple to make and looked so elegant.
Finished! *Ignore the very tired look on my face lol.
The back! I had to "Make it work!" with the back because I got a little over zealous with the french seaming. It was suppossed to zip up the back, but the FS ate up fabric and I had to lace it instead.
The drape simple hangs off the shoulder, the dress is held up with an elastic hidden under the drape connecting to the shoulder. I totally love the back of this dress :-D
I'm ready for my close up Mr. Deville!
Waiting for the train to take me to the Runway!
