BEFORE: Fireplace was originally dirty, with stained bricks, cracked mortar, and globs of hardened mortar all over the bricks.

BEFORE: Round base of light fixture was mounted on a square wooden base that didn't completely cover the circular hole in the ceiling nor even attempt to match the ceiling color. Plus one of the 5 lights was an after market add-on, and the extra draw kept overheating the fixture and making it cut off.

DURING: We cleaned, acid washed, sealed, chipped off mortar globs, and repaired holes in the mortar. Also cleaned the chimneys, painted the vent grates, and bought a fireplace screen.

DURING: Removed the light fixture to replace the mounting piece with a round one stained to color match. Also removed the fifth light head. Repositioned the light heads to illuminate the cool brickwork.
