The deck was in a horrible state, with mold, mildew, and rot.

Even the Trex planking was horribly stained and mildew-y.

Much of the underneath support was bare, unpainted wood.

Lots of pieces were cracked, broken, rotted, or missing altogether.

First order of business... pressure washing!

Pressure washing did a great job of removing the mold/mildew and stains, but also exposed even more bare wood, as it knocked off peeling paint.

After repairs, caulking, and priming the bare spots, painting began!

Now the emphasis is on the view, not on the ugly deck.

Added rat wire so that skinny foster dogs can't slip between the spindles.

Added a gate to the lower deck so that the dogs could go out there
