Rocket came from an Alabama shelter where he'd been picked up as a stray but his great manners and demeanor clearly indicate that he had been someone's cherished pet. He just fit right into the household as soon as he got here. He is 2-1/2 - 3 years old.

He is about 15" tall and came to us weighing a very skinny 18 lbs. He should weigh closer to 21 or 22 lbs. and now that he is over a bad case of worms and has his appetite back, he should get to a good weight quickly.

We're not sure what he is mixed with, as his head size/shape is wrong for a full Rat Terrier, and he doesn't have that terrier...uh... "exuberance."
:)
He is a very mild-mannered fellow, not at all pushy, obtrusive, or demanding. He is not skittish or nervous, and greets strangers with a dignified friendliness.

But Rocket really appreciates attention and kindness. He is grateful when you invite him to sit on the couch with you and offer some cuddle time.

He gets along great with the children he has met (ages 6-16). He is respectful of the cats and would rather avoid them if possible. As some point his tail was broken (near the top of the black part), and is a little sensitive for him. But he does wag it... back and forth, up and down, around in circles, and in figure 8's!

He also gets along fine with other dogs. He will play with them sometimes but usually is quite indendent and doesn't interact with them too much. He has met everything from Chihuahua to American Eskie with tail wagging.

He is completely housetrained and knows how to use a doggie door. He did not even offer to lift a leg a single time, even when he first got here.

His house manners have been perfect, not chewing on anything not his or gettng in the trash or getting into any other mischief. At night he'll sleep quietly on a blanket beside our bed and not get up until we decide it's time.

He does tend to pull too hard on a leash if you're just meandering, but if you set a brisk pace he will trot right beside you. He loves to ride in the car and will jump right in when you open the door.

"The boys" are spending their spring break being couch potatoes.

I'm pretty sure that we've never had an easier foster dog than Rocket. We think he really, really deserves a GREAT home.
