Say hello to sweet Miss Luci.

She is a friendly girl who is looking to be someone's lifetime companion.

Luci was surprised when she got on the scales this fall and found herself at 18-1/2 lbs. She was determined to regain her girlish figure.

As of January 21 she is down below 16 lbs. Notice that her markings look different? This is actually Luci's LEFT side but I flopped the photo to make her outline contrast better with the previous one.

Luci is an alert gal who really enjoys going on walks. She walks extremely well on leash in quiet circumstances, but does get nervous at passing cars and dogs.

In fact, Luci gets nervous around other dogs in general, as she has a history of having been attacked on a few occasions. She is willing to slowly get acclimated to other gentle dogs of her same size (and will romp and play with them once she completely accepts them as a friend), but truthfully would prefer being an only dog.

In the house she is usually quite low-key, content to snooze in the sun or follow her person around. Her house manners are very nice and she is normally quiet and serene.

Luci's housetraining can be described as reliable as long as she is given ample outdoor opportunity and you accompany her. She doesn't like to stay outdoors by herself and she can take some time to find just the right spot, so a supervisory eye is a good idea. Also, she does not use a doggie door or otherwise "ask" to go out, so a set schedule is a must.

Loud, unexpected noises (fireworks, gun shots, machinery, etc.) frighten her. For this reason she would probably feel most comfortable in a home without small (bouncy, noisy) children.

Luci is friendly with people and very affectionate!

When she is feeling relaxed, she gets quite playful, particularly enjoying stuffed toys. Click for a video of Luci showing off her happy rattie shakes.

Luci will be such a wonderful companion for someone who wants a single dog who is smart, playful,  gentle, and well behaved.

What more could you ask for?

If she has careful, slow introductions she can learn to get along well with other small, low-key, gentle dogs.
