Keely is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix of about 64 lbs.

This 4-year-old sweetie pie was thrown from a car as a puppy, which fractured her skull and left her with some brain impairment  and damaged vision.

As a result, she can be quite skittish, shying from unexpected sounds and sudden movements. She gets around fine in a familiar environment, but is somewhat hesitant in new places.

Despite her impairment, Keely has thrived and grown into a wonderfully gentle, docile girl. In a stable, predictable, loving home, she is very comfortable and  even frisky.

She looks to the other dogs around her for guidance and reassurance, letting them take the lead in new situations. We believe that Keely needs to go to a home where there is at least one other dog to give her the security and stability she craves.

Keely's world was torn apart in late July when her beloved daddy didn't come home from open heart surgery. At first confused at the changes in circumstances, she has adapted very well to her foster home. But she really needs a new permanent loving home to return stability to her world. Keely (left) is gentle, usually very quiet in the house, and extremely well behaved. She is so docile and tentative that there is never any need to correct her.

Keely does love pats and butt scratches! Initially it's a little hard to get to know her well because her nervousness and her special needs make her seem a little stand-offish. But give her a few days of patient and consistent encouragement, and she'll soon be seeking you out for companionship! (Unless you're holding a camera. Then forget about it.)

No, she can't fit through that little doggie door. :-) But she IS reliably housetrained. She is also spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative, and microchipped.

She gets along great with all the dogs in her fosterhome, but she is a little scared of cats.

Keely would like a quiet home without too much commotion and activity, where she can settle into a predictable routine.

You won't meet a more docile, non-assertive dog. Or one to whom your heart goes out more.

My son Philip sent me this email about Keely because we have had Ridgebacks for about 20 years. Sometimes three at a time, but only one right now.I am a real animal lover, but once you own a Ridgie you have a loyalty towards them that matches no other.I am so happy for this precious Ridgeback. My son tells me Keely now has loving parents. What a happy ending to a cruel beginning for this sweet baby.

Keely is beautiful, and I admire her moxie!
I'm acquainted with her new parents, and they are just what she needed. She can look forward to a long, healthy, happy, secure life in a loving home.
I love a happy ending ...
