Darlin' Daisy was rescued from Animal Control in South Georgia, where she was to be euthanized.
She came to rescue with heartworms but underwent successful heartworm treatment in the fall of 2004.
She was transferred to Atlanta on March 10 and quickly charmed her way into her new foster family.
Daisy was about 11" tall and 14 lbs. We'd been told that she was about 6 years old, but later learned she was probably at least 10 years old.
This quiet girl was easy to love and care for. Housetrained, loving, and very low-key, she just liked to "hang out" with her people.
Daisy learned to do okay with other dogs but was bossy and had an "in-your-face" attitude that often led to fights. Because of numerous scars, we assume she had a hard time with dogs in her past and we believe she had mostly been an outdoor dog.
Daisy was adopted by a Massachusetts family and was waiting to be transported from Georgia up to her new home.
The morning before her transport, however, she died suddenly and unexpectedly. The necropsy showed an enlarged heart, probably damaged from the earlier struggles with heartworms.
Daisy died May 19, 2005, when her heart suddenly failed. We will sorely miss her enthusiastic greetings and loving kisses.
