Old Settler 2nd match
2-0 loss.
Great weather for a night game. Maybe 5 degrees C and a full moon — complete with a full eclipse during the game!
Missing Garry, Daniel, Jon, Josh and Brian of our regulars. We had one sub and rolled it well.
0-0 at the half, against a team that beat us 5-2 earlier.
The ref had been calling all sorts of non handballs, then ignored an obvious one that gave an advantage to a sprinting winger. Too many of us (including myself) gave up on it, instead of playing the whistle... and he scored.
They scored again a short while later on scrambly play, following a cross into the box.
We gave them a good workout and I'm sure we gained their respect. They are apparently the second-place team in Chilliwack at the moment. 'Tricky strikers that gave us a good workout too. Kyle thwarted many of their attempts, and we got lucky on one of #6 (Tommy's) deflections in front of the net.
Late in the game Sitwala was playing the post on a corner kick and headed out a shot that would have been in.
9000 steps, or about 9 km, on my pedometer! (Not many pics, as we were all busy.) | Date(s): Feb.20, 2008. Album by Barry Stewart. Photos by Barry Stewart. 1 - 15 of 15 Total. 232 Visits. |
