1to3vsOldSettler

Finally, we got to play our fourth game of the season — 10 weeks in.

They started one man short but had 2-3 subs by game-end. We started with one sub and Tai arrived later. A healthy sub list would have been an advantage, as we had no subs on the front line.

1-1 at the half, with OSP scoring first on a crossing shot that had us all beat but was probably going to miss, (figure Bruce and Kyle). Then it hit a nasty divot in front of the net and went in.

Al got us tied late in the half, on a beautiful drive through the middle. He was getting hunted down by a back-checker but he just kept driving, made a move on the keeper, and knocked it in.

Second half: they seemed to put extra players in the middle and up-front. We had some breakdowns and they poked in a few tough shots.

We had our chances but didn't connect. The sweetest chance was a crazy long lob by Ryan Long (I believe) that beat the tender but hit the crossbar, then bounced to Andrew, who was all alone for a tap-in but he put it over the bar. It was a lucky chance, as we should have been called on a huge off-side just before that.

Ryan Ward was a try-out today and he looked quite at-home in the midfield. He has signed up for the rest of the season, but is unable to play next week. He should be a regular after that. DJ and Dan K should be with us, starting next week.

Red card for Geoff Lundgren on an unfortunate late hit on slippery ground, as he and the other player went for a loose ball. (We were thinking yellow.) League rules say a minimum 3 games for a second red card. (A third in one season = 6 games.)

Yellow card for Jeff Holgate for a slide tackle from behind.

They got two yellows.

(Thanks to Jeff H. for taking most of the pics.)

Close call on offside, viewed from this angle.
I believe it was called against us, though.
