For those who weren't there (and that wasn't too many of you), the game was a bit of an odd one. The ground seemed quite hard, which made the ball bounce an extra foot or two more than you'd expect. This was causing troubles for both goalies.

We were switched on Saturday morning from the Swensson field to the Ridgeview field, which was relatively tiny: 90 yards long and 55 wide. (The Tzeachten field is at least 100x60, so 6000 sq. yards, compared to 4950 here... a lot less real estate to dangle in.) This made it tough to play the deep ball down the wing — and goalies could play ping-pong if they wanted to, punting the ball to each other. It wasn't a pretty game to watch... a lot of booting and bouncing, and any fancy work was usually cut down by congestion.

Ryan and Andrew did get very close to scoring in the second half, when they got it past the keeper but a defender was there to stop it, then the goalie scrambled over to cover.

At the other end, Kyle got his hands on a ground ball but the attacker knocked it loose and scored... but the ref blew it down, saying Kyle was in control. The pic isn't sharp, but it does show his hand on the ball at that instant.

All in all: a fitting score, as Brand's equaled us in effort and skill. Too bad we only get 1 point for a tie, though!

4-1 loss to Brand's, last year.

(Thanks to Willa for the photography & flagging.)
