A gorgeous day for soccer, though bright sun was tough for teams on the north end of the field.

2-0 at the half. We had a few chances to score but didn't get them on net. Nathan made a sweet save on the line, just by being there. If he wasn't on the line (after a corner kick, I believe) the ball was in.

Kyle and the posts made other fine saves.

In the second half, Matt drew a free kick just outside the box and he nailed a low cross across the front of the net. Al went low to head it and he says he missed it ('looked like it hit his shoulder blades). The keeper, Depo, says it then hit d-man Shane Gumprich and bounced in.

Later, Yvon went along the top of the box with the ball, then turned and cranked it. Depo saved it — but it would have been a great first goal for Yvon.

Kyle was more outstanding in the second half, with good challenges. They were given a penalty kick late in the half (at 3-1) and Kyle guessed correctly — but it hit all metal at the corner and bounced out.

Some good plays were made, we were communicating pretty well and we left feeling good, overall. Last time was a 5-1 loss against these guys.

Next game, we'll focus more on ball possession.
