Great weather for soccer. Probably 25-30 degrees in the sun.
The GW Graham field, though, was very mushy, making quick moves difficult. Kyle was having a hard time getting any footing to push off with, so he pretty well had to stay put and do what he could.
We got off to a good start, with an early rush down the right wing. Geoff followed up with a rocket shot from outside the box, that was headed out by a defender.
City had awesome luck/skill on their shots and had us up 3-1 at the half. Our first goal came on a cross to Tyler, who was waiting on the left to knock it in.
Al was knocked down at the edge of the box (or inside) and we had a free kick that almost went in, after some scrambly play.
DJ had a breakaway and the keeper came out. There was a big foot-on-foot collision and the keeper went off for the half.
City picked up a goal off a corner kick in the second half. I blocked the shot at the post — but they knocked the rebound back in.
Al responded with a high, dropping shot that had the keeper handcuffed. 4-2. Geoff hammered another long one that the keeper had to tip over the bar.
Andrew got us to 4-3 with a confident play, similar to Darren's goal last week: a few moves to the middle, then a shot.
City replied with a beauty of a shot off the crossbar and in. Brent had slid to take away the low shot and #11 (Taylor Daigle) shot it high.
A yellow for Tyler for beaking and one for City for a hard charge that just missed Zane (I believe).
That's 6 goals in two games for us... far better than last year. City continues to be a team that commands respect. | Date(s): 25Sept, 2010. Album by Barry Stewart. Photos by "Digital Deanna". 1 - 78 of 78 Total. 291 Visits. |
