ZUKAPALOOZA 2009 (May 28, 2009)Memorial Day weekend, May 22-25
Happy 10th anniversary!
Yep, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of ZOA. We camped out in Cottonwood and had a fun three or four days of four wheeling, Suzuki style. These pictures are from the Smiley Rock, Broken Arrow and Oak Creek Homestead trails. |

ZUKAPALOOZA 2008 (May 24, 2008)| I was only able to attend one day of ZP08. I led the Smiley Rock and Mingus Mountain trails. These are the few pictures I took with my cellphone. You guessed it, I left my camera at home. Doh! |

Hieroglyphic Mountains (April 20, 2008)| A few of us met up for an afternoon in the mountains west of Lake Pleasant. Clear skies and a cool breeze made it a perfect day for wheelin. |

El Camino Del Diablo and KOFA (March 20, 21, 22, 2008)| Eric, Scott, my father-in-law and I finally took the plunge and ran the El Camino Del Diablo trail. This trail runs from Ajo to Yuma and is very desolate. We didn't see any illegal aliens but we did see a ton of Border Patrol so we felt safe. The weather was perfect so we slept under the stars. After Del Diablo we spent another night in the KOFA National Wildlife Refuge north of Yuma. This was a great trip and there are many more trails to go back and see in the future. |

ZUKAPALOOZA 2007 (May 30, 2007)Our 4th!
Trails: Smiley Rock, Mingus Mountain, Broken Arrow, Oak Creek Homestead, Smasher Canyon and Brutal Canyon.
It was a great time this year. Brutal Canyon caused quite a bit of damage, but spirits were high anyway. We had about 10 vehicles on the Broken Arrow trip and it was a blast. The jeep tour guys were all cool and the tourists loved our zuks.
I want to say thanks to everyone that made the trip to Cottonwood, especially the HAVAZUKS for coming all the way from Lake Havasu City. They had a great time and hopefully will return next year.
Enjoy these pictures and if you didn't make it this year, please plan for Zukapalooza 2008! |

March 2007 Wildcat Run (March 17, 2007)Backway to Crown King
I was invited to tag along with member Ed and a group of his friends. We had a new Toyota FJ with us, two Wranglers, one built up Grand Cherokee and two Zuks. It was a great run, but we got held up by a large group of runners/hikers. They ran/hiked the entire 30 miles from Lake Pleasant to Crown King. They were pretty dang tired at the end. The pictures at the end are cabins for rent in Crown King. They sleep six and go for about $100 per night. |

January 2007 Wildcat Run (January 6, 2007)Attached are some pics of last weeks Wildcat run. Saturday Steve Hein, Rick Peace, Steve Hillis, Myron, and myself went to Bumble Bee to run a trail called Suzie’s Choice (apparently a Suzuki was the first rig to make it thru this trail). We all made it thru without any broken parts. It was a fun trail, but a little challenging for the stock wheelbase vehicles. Myron entertained us with a GREAT wheelstand and balancing act. After we finished Suzie’s Choice we went to another trail.
I pulled up to it, chickened out, and winched up just to see what it felt like…I would like to name it “Pucker Hill.” Craig Zeller is the only guy to make it up the last waterfall on this trail. This trail has Rick Wampler’s and Enno’s names written all over it!
Thanks Rod |

October 2006 Club Meeting/Trail Ride (October 29, 2006)| Huge thanks to Avondale Suzuki for hosting our meeting this month! They grilled burgers and dogs and even gave us some shirts and hats. Very cool! After the meeting we headed to the White Tank Mtn's for some wheelin. We took the Appetizer Trail to Tax Collector and then Firebird. We made it out just as it got dark. It was a great run! |

June 2006 Wildcat Run (June 10, 2006)Steve Durand, Steve Hein, and I ran Die Hard last Saturday. It was a BRUTAL trail. The major obstacles were tough, but the rock gardens between the major obstacles were sometimes tougher. All the rocks seamed to be placed perfectly to catch your differentials. It was slow going and seamed very long, but was still fun. To give you and idea how slow going it was, my GPS listed 1.5 hours moving and 4.5 hours stopped. We had to spot each other, one at a time for the majority of the trail. But none of us broke anything (Praise God), just some new “Character Marks”. Steve Hein’s automatic worked great! I can’t wait to get an automatic installed…Dave are you listening?
By the way, I heard that this is Rick Wampler’s favorite trail.
