ANSWER: ROSLYN HOFFMAN
These horse earrings. How do I tell if they are really copper?
Karla Wacker
"I would say yes the earrings are copper." --Linda Lange, 10/17/08
"I have had the horse earrings and are pretty sure they are copper." --Cheryl Killmer, 10/17/08
"I just did a search on ebay for the copper horse earrings and found a listing that said the following: This is a pair of beautiful clip-back earrings from the early 1950s,designed and created by Roslyn Hoffman. She signed very little of her work until 1952, so these predate that and I have been told that these are pictured in a book of vintage American jewelry of that era. It is interesting to note that the right and left facing horses are not identical...that is, each one was designed individually rather than being cast in reverse. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this possible? I don't even know who this Roslyn Hoffman is? Anyone?" --Karla Wacker, 10/17/08
"Well, here's some info. http://www.illusionjewels.com/costumejewelrymarksh.html Dotty - I can't find the ad that it states you have. It seems that little is known about her and the ebay item you found sums up what I've been able to find." --Lilly Vittetow, 10/17/08
"When it says "have ad" in a listing, it mean that Pat Seal has the ad in her personal files. It's not on the site. When we started RCJ, dates on ads were one way of establishing when a company was in business. I really need to change the wording to "seen in ad", or something similar." --Dotty Stringfeld, 10/17/08
"Your horse head earrings are on page 202 (un-signed) of "20th Century Costume Jewerly 1900-1980" by Ronna Lee Aikins." --Lilly Vittetow, 10/17/08
