ANSWER: PATENT FOR METAL TREATMENT 2246399
I got a piece of jewelry in a box that had a patent number on it, Patent 2246399. On Google Patent Search I found the patent (linked below) and thought some of you might be interested or perhaps it
could be added to the JR patent page for future reference. It's rather difficult to reduce the several pages of patent information to a brief description, but essentially it describes a process for making the metal look like it had a gem paved surface. Patent issued in 1941. Here is a pic of the piece of jewelry that bears the patent number. I have to say they don't really look like gems to me, but rather inverted marcasites. Note the faux pearl does have real rhinestones in it.
