ANSWER: IVORY WITH 14K (585 EUROPEAN MARK)
It is a simple ivory colored cuff bracelet with a very very small, strange mark on the inside which looks like 585 to me. The mark seems to be carved into the back of the bracelet somehow and then filled in with a gold color which matches the gold decoration on the bracelet itself.  Also, the bracelet has cross hatch marks in it which I have read are signs of ivory. I ran hot water over the bracelet to see if it might be bakelite but no telltale smell.

"They had lifted ban on caches of ivory that had been confiscated, hence new old ivory has been on the market. I have seen many contemporary pieces lately which has not mellowed out to that yellow cast...more creamy like yours. The cross hatching can be seen on elephant ivory but it also can be seen on mammoth ivory...less valuable. There is a french ivory which I believe is bakelite or plastic...which has a grain but not a cross hatching. In any case "Sparkles" seems to be the authority I most refer to. she has wonderful information on ivory and I believe will give examples of the difference between elephant cross hatching and mammoth herringbone pattern. i can't see from Pic. This is all IMHO... I'm no expert" --Kathleen, 06/13/10
