ANSWER: PROBABLY LATE 60s-EARLY 70s MEN'S CUFFS

I picked up these most unusual cuff links yesterday. They are standard cuff links except that instead of having a short piece of mesh that connects the two findings, mine have like 8"'s of mesh. Is there a name for these "cuff link bracelets"? How were they worn? Over the cuff? Under the cuff? Can you help me date them?

"they could have been used to hold up long blouses and sweaters when working as a secretary. Not sure what they would have been called." --Delores Benedict, 03/29/09
"those look like they would go around the whole cuff? A cuff on a woman's shirt usually closes at about 7", so these would fit all the way around the outside and then go up to an XL." --Sheri Weiss, 03/29/09
"I had some links like that. They were set with "watermelon" stones and had a matching tie tack. I believe they were from Swank. I sold them so I have no picture, but they did go over the cuff." --Bobye Syverson, 03/29/09
"how do you know they are cufflinks or standard cufflinks? i'm a bit puzzled, what holds them in place? I thought they would an earring..for pierced ears only. i'm sure you've all see the type of earrings that have a post and then a lever.. that flips to the back of our ear holding the earrings in place. Do they say swank or one of the mens cufflink companies. i'd love to see them close up..." --Shanti Forte, 03/29/09
"from my days at the jewelry dist I can say they are from the late 60's early 70's, they were for men as mens fashions (think Sammy Davis Jr. ) were just starting to wear their shirts open on TV along with flashy gawdy jewelry..the flex mesh allows for a range of cuff sizes" --Linda, 08/08/10
