ANSWER: IN LEIGH LESHNER BOOK
Does anyone recognize this little fellow? He's sterling and very well made. I looked in my Brunialti American book and several online sources but didn't find it.

"I don't know who made him, Julie but he looks very 40's retro to me. What a great piece!" --Jan Gaughan, 03/08/09
"I have no idea who might have made it but I do notice that it is an uncommon mold. Most lizards are thin and he is fat. However I don't think he is a horned toad. Maybe a monitor lizard? I have quite a few lizards/gecko's/salamanders but none look anything like him. I am currently organizing my figurals (a much needed job). When I finish, I am going to look in my book, Rhinestone Jewelry, to see if I can identify any more. I will look for your lizard also." --Nancy cox, 03/08/09
"not much info but your lizard is shown in Leigh Leshner's Rhinestone Jewelry, page 11, as one of the representative examples of 1940s sterling vermeil figural brooches, where she's discussing styles and periods of design. It's repeated on page 153, but no attribution to a maker. Maybe that helps a little." --Linda Jo Mitchell, 03/08/09
