ANSWER: SYNTHETIC ALEXANDRITE
I’ve had this ring for a long time.  It is substantial, signed SS with markings.  Please see below.  My question is…this large round stone changes in color from magenta to blue to purple depending on the lighting.  I’ve tested it on my Presidium gem tester and the needle travels all the way over to just before the diamond setting, near the ruby sapphire cal area.  Are there lots of gemstones that show all of those colors, or are there a few stones I might want to research further?  Actually in the florescent light I can see blue & magenta.  The stone is pretty stunning & large.  I know we’ve had discussions before about how difficult it is to determine a gemstone from a photo, but hoping because of the color variations that maybe someone might have a direction to send me in?
