ANSWER: J. O'BRIEN & COMPANY
I am hoping someone has seen this mark before. I have spent hours looking for it, but have not been able to match it. Pretty sure the charm is 1940s WWII period. Thought the mark was Lampl but the shield he used does not have a crown. Maybe it's British? The letters could be J and C or O. Charm has a gold wash which is mostly faint now.

"Are you familar with one of our member's websites (Dotty) that has a section on marks? It is on Illusion Jewels and is called Researching Costume Jewelry or RCJ for short. Here is the link -maybe you can find something. If is it Lampl we have a Walter Lampl expert on JR. Cheri Van Hoover at Milky Way Jewels. http://www.illusionjewels.com/costumejewelrymarks.html" --Judi Bollan, 12/16/08
