ANSWER: ATTRIBUTABLE TO SCEMAMA

Baroque pearl and clear rs fur clip (marked "Depose" and "France"). It's very similar to the girandole brooch pictured on page 61 of Ginger's book, which she says Roger Scemama made for Givenchy (in the 50s, I gather). The back of the clip has a really interesting construction. I found this description of an attributed Scemama fur clip auctioned by Doyle (and sold for a pretty penny!) that seems similar:

"Lot 3163,Scemama Star Fur Clip
France, circa 1950

Navette-cut transparent stones in various sizes, silver plated findings, handmade structure, 5 x 4 inches, marked: Depose."

What say you about the maker of this lovely?

"Just wanted to update that Ginger Moro says this is attributable to Scemama. The Givenchy brooch that looks like it was made in 1954." --carrie pollack, 11/18/08
