"My Dad, Capt. Gerald T. Gaffney USMC RET. was also a Mustang. He was promoted to 2nd Lt. from Mstr. Sgt. March 1951. As a founding member of the 2nd Marine division he landed on Gavutu in the Guadalcanal Campaign & served until relieved in the fall of 1942. My Dad had a heart attack & retired as the Reg. Adjutant 2nd ITR at Camp Pendleton in 1959. they may have served together somewhere along the line. My deepest condolences to your family. Losing a parent sucks." --Matt Gaffney, 07/25/15
