Vz24 Mauser Sniper (8mm)
2. Vz24 Mauser Sniper (8mm)
Available for sale/trade                  The Romanians purchased the Vz24 Mauser from Czechoslovakia in the 30's as their standard arm & it remained in Romanian service into the early post-war years eventually being replaced by Soviet arms. A number of these rifles which had been fitted w/scopes/mounts were imported a number of years ago minus the mounts & scopes. This rifle has been fitted w/an original mount & a "sanitized" Soviet PEM scope.

Romanian Mosin 91/30 (7.62x54r)
3. Romanian Mosin 91/30 (7.62x54r)
Avaiable for sale/trade                   Here is a Romanian mfg 91/30 copy. These rifles are very similiar to the late/post war Soviet guns. All I have seen have been dated in the early-mid 50's. Most seem to have 2 piece stocks which appear to be M44's with forends spliced on.

M1944 Mosin carbine
4. M1944  Mosin carbine   ((7.62x54r))
The Romanians also produced the Mosin-Nagant m1944 carbine, the Romanian version is basically the same as a late Soviet m1944 regarding fittings etc. There were apparently not many mfg, Romanian production appears to have begun very late, possibly 1954, although 53 dated examples have been reported I've never personally seen one, the beginning of Romanian production closely corresponds to the end of production of Polish examples. Romanian SKS production began approximately 1956 so the time frame for Romanian M44's is very short.

Available for sale/trade
The Romanian AIM was a version of the Soviet AKM (stamped recvr), a straight copy of it was produced by the Romanians & they had this version with forward facing grip. This rifle is built from an SAR-1.

AIMS-74 (5.45x39)
6. AIMS-74  (5.45x39)
Romania's version of the Soviet AK74 utilizing the 5.45x39 round. This rifle uses the 45 degree gas block of the AKM w/the 90 degree gas port of the AK74, it utilizes a side folding stock similiar to the East German model but uses a push button release rather than a lever, the charging handle on the bolt is also turned up which provides a bit more room when the stock is folded. The compensator is also different than the Russian/Bulgarian etc variants & uses a 22mm thread.

PSL sniper rifle (7.62x54r)
7. PSL sniper rifle  (7.62x54r)
The Romanian PSL sniper rifle is commonly encountered now in the US, often sold as a "Dragunov" to the unwary, it is cosmetically similiar & uses the same basic style furniture but is a different rifle. The PSL uses an RPK reciever (stamped versus the milled Dragunov receiver) w/the AK long stroke piston for the 7.62x54r cartridge, they also have a bolt hold open device built into the receivr. Most are found w/Russian scopes but the military guns use a Romanian version of the Soviet PSO1 scope which doesn't have the external battery compartment for the illuminator, it used Tritium to light the reticle. These guns have been sold as PSL's, FPK's, & Romak's (aside from being erroneously called Dragunov's). Some of the guns I believe were actual military guns with the bayonet lug ground off & the brake tack welded in place, some never had the bayonet band put on (or were removed) most were built for commercial sale in the US & have a smooth barrel, no stop for the bayonet band, no band & have the Russian mfg scope. There are also some currently on the market that were assembled from parts kits onto a new receiver.
