RESFIRE2005
| 4TH OF July Colville Reservation Fire in the begining. The Fire was called the Second Hud fire 6 miles NE of Omak, Washington. Fire was contained 07/09/05 @ 1600 hrs. Hand held Infra-red operators are on the line again today, searching for hot spots. Crews are mopping up and rehab of dozer and handlines is being completed in those areas approved by the tribal archeologist. Total size to date was 4,274 acres. I added a few more pictures of other fires including the one that over ran my OWN HOME and burned 9 of my neighbors homes. Mine did not burn but it sure was close up to 15 ft from my buildings. I had to leave it for 30 mins while the fire ball went over and came back in to put out hot spots all over the place that were burning. Strange watching your own place disapear under a flame front with crowning trees all around it then having the smoke lift and find it still there and only the trees burnt! That was a wild night to remember!! I waited up all night watching the Lightning Stikes and saw the on that started the Virgina Lk Complex Fire just behind our home. I reported the fire then went out with Dist #8 to fight them. Total of 5 strikes and 5 fires from them. We got 4 out but one was to hard to get into and burned back. It was the one that caused the large Plume Blowup in a couple pictures as it was taking off. The tree with the lightning strike was one of the 5 we got out but later this tree was burned up in the fire as it came back over the hill to my home. Mark | Date(s): August 21, 2004.
