My name is Catherine, and Wee Legends is now located in beautiful North Central Washington.
Wee Legends is dedicated to raising balanced rat terriers. We breed for health, conformation, temperament, intelligence, and most importantly hunting ability.
We breed no more than 2 litters a year to contiue our lines and ideally improve upon them. That is our motivation for breeding. When we have pups that will not fit into our program, we will then place those puppies into loving, forever homes. We apply early neurological stimulation from 3-16 days old. Benefits of such include: greater resistance to disease, more tolerance to stress, and improved cardio vascular. They are exposed to many different things such as kids, cats, other dogs, crates, loud noises, and much more. Puppy shot series start at 8 weeks. When I have puppies for sale, I like to place them according to their personalities i.e. how well they will fit into a particular home. For example, I would not place an overly active pup in a calm, quiet, or elderly home. Likewise, an aloof pup would probably not do well in a hectic or active home. All dogs are not the same. They each have their own unique personality. I like to play an active role in the selection of families for my pups, and as such will require an application to be filled out. If I have a pup that would fit well into a home, a non-refundable deposit will be required, full payment being due before the pup reaches 12 weeks old.
If you are thinking about owning or breeding RaTs, you should start by reading, researching, and asking questions. Once you think you know it all, then I would suggest reading, researching and asking MORE questions cause we never really know it all, do we? :)

Future Plans (August 28, 2003)What do they say about the best laid plans? Anyway, here are some of my breeding prospects and who I am planning to breed in the future. As you know plans can and do change. :)

I take names for pick reservations in the order they are received, but I don't make any commitments on individual puppies until I have chosen one for myself. I breed for me first, and if I have pups that will not fit in my breeding program, I will place them in loving forever homes, and some possibly into breeding or show homes.
Puppies are picked no sooner than 6 weeks of age, but usually around 8 weeks when I can more accurately assess them. Upon approval of buyer, I will require a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your pick placement.
Puppies leave my home with, first two sets of shots (at 8 and 12 weeks), health guarantee, UKC and/or UKCI registration papers, spay/neuter contract (if not breeding quality), and alot of love to give. Pups are usually litter and/or paper trained by the time they leave my home.
