Hi Cathy,
I have a wooden c clasp brooch posted on the Ebay jewelry board and was wondering if you have the time you could take a look at it. The brooch has similar findings as some of the brooches on your site. My ID is Musjay
Thanks for a providing a wonderful site, I love to look, even my DH has looked at your jewelry.
Thanks
Jayne

Hello,

Is it possible to get an opinion on a brooch I have come upon?  It appears to look like Miriam Haskell, but it is not her normal plate on the back.  The back of the brooch has a small silver plate with the imprint of "Germany" running across the top of the plate, and an "M" on the bottom.  Does this sound familiar?  I could send pictures of the brooch if this is helpful.

Please help.  Any advice or leads on how to check further would be appreciated.

Thank you very much!
Susan

Hi Cathy!
I've ordered your new book from Amazon but they say it has not been released yet.  Do you happen to have an ETA on this?  Also, would you sign a copy for me?  Thank you.  Pat

Hi Cathy - I love your book and admire your dedication to educating  the masses about the incomparable Miriam Haskell. I have a question - I purchased a pair of signed leverback earrings with amethyst cabochons.  Within days one of the cabochons fell out of the setting and I realized it had been glued in.  Upon closer inspection it is apparent that the cab on the other earring is glued in as well, it's not even centered correctly on the base.  The seller insists they are authentic?  Do I have any recourse- I have purchased many pieces which have turned out to be fakes.  It is so disheartening.  Any advice?  Thanks, Anne Colarusso

Hi Cathy!  Wonderful site!  I just posted some pics of a Miriam Haskell set on the Ebay jewelry boards and am hoping you could take a look and provide some information on it. It belonged to my mother so I know that it is genuine, however, it is very different than other Haskell  pieces of seen.  Thanks!

I found a gold clip on earring & pin matching set i na thrift shop last week. I cannot make out the first 2 letters of the signature on the back. I have tried all variations i can think of it looks like, still nothing. I opened up the clip & seen the patent number, so i got excited lol. Well it was just for the clasp part. I have pics if anyone can help e-mail me please. I cannot get a pic of the sig however. Just the set.

Cathy, I have been pouring over your website and book for months now and have collected several pieces of possible unsigned Haskell.  Your site and book are amazing and I am hooked!! I can't stop looking for these older pieces.  Thank-you for compiling so much info and getting it out to everyone!
Sincerely, Barbara

Dear Cathy Gordon,
I posted a picture on the ebay jewelry board of a possible Haskell brooch and it was recommended that I ask if you could look and tell whether it was an actual Haskell piece. The title is Haskell or Czech? and my id is dede0998.I have your book and love it!
Thank you Deidre

wow. what an incredible album! Truly an amazing collection of information, and what fab photos!  Thanks for putting it out here. I wonder if someone could help me out with a question, looks like this may be The source for info on Haskell items.  I have several marked/signed pieces that seem to have small amounts of a clear glue underneath the back metal/filigree portions (between the 2 pieces).  It doesnt make sense as they seem to be wired on- and I cant see any other repairs.  Does anyone know if this could be original and if not, what would the glue be for? thank you so much!

Thanks so much for providing these pictures, especially the ads. They are most useful for identifying and dating vintage pieces. Is it OK to provide links to your pages when we list items for sale? Thank you!

Dear Cathy-I posted a picture of a piece I have that I think is Miriam Haskell, I was told to ask you if you would come over to the board and confirm it. Thank you for your time

Very informative. Thank you for the time you took to list and explain the designs and construction of the jewelry. I have given away alot of these type of earrings that you say are unsigned MH. I better pay close attention now. Thanks!

I have just started looking at the Haskell line because I have found a piece of jewelry marked "Haskell".  It is a genuine star ruby in a maple leaf.  It is 14kt gold and was wondering if anyone out there may have any information on this particular piece.

Just getting into this; yours was a pleasant site for sore eyes.

Mimi Sat, 11 Jun 2005 10:54AM

THE greatest site I have seen on jewelry. You have done an excellent job and service.

Debbie GoodsonTue, 7 Jun 2005 10:05AM

I've got a gorgeous MH necklace and hoping to learn more about it. I've not found one like it in books so hoping you can help give me a ballpark value for it. Although I'm not sure if you accept photos and do that type of thing. I've already learned alot just by reading what your other contributors have written. Thanks!

Fran SimpsonMon, 23 May 2005 8:08AM

Your site is very helpful and much appreciated!  I work for a local "GoodWill-type shop" that uses profits for helping others in our community, and we just received several pieces of Miriam Haskell jewelry that I am hoping to sell at good prices that will help the shop! Your site is definitely coming in useful to help identify some of these items!  If you have time and can help identify some of these....   However, if you can't, I certainly understand and appreciate the site for its help!

moira tealeSat, 21 May 2005 3:52AM

I have a single strand of grey baroque pearls with the MH clasp, there is also a hang tag with GJ, do you know what this may stand for?

I have a pair of signed Mirriam Haskell Earrings does having the patent number increase the value? Did she use Bakelite?

Connie AlyThu, 31 Mar 2005 7:09PM

I have a Haskell choker with the Patent #342789. This item looks alot like #10 on your page with the clasps. Mine does have the oval with Miriam Haskel on itl  Can you give me any more info. If you can I would appreciate it. Thanks, Connie Aly

Your book is superb!!  Thank you for providing such a thorough, professional analysis that I know will now allow me to confidently select true Haskell pieces.  I do have one question that I could not determine in the book.  Did Haskell use bell shaped, hand cut crystals in anything?  I ask because an online site claims to have these available (www.beadhive.net).  I have a demi with these in a different shade with many Hallesque elements but the crystals made me think it was just a wannabee.

Looking for oriental metal findings.

Gerri Wed, 1 Sep 2004 7:58PM

I just inherited a most unusual Hakell.  Can't wait to get the book and see if I can find something similar.  It has layers of filigreed flowers, amber beads and 4 chains.
