Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that the brooches numbered 15, 30, 38 & 39 are Elzac brooches. I didn't write down the numbers, but I think 15 is the carved ebony wood with rhinestones on the forehead and with a large Lucite headdress. The other numbers I do remember and they are definitely Elzac. Elzac used 2 types of wood for their wood pieces, walnut and ebony. I hope this helps.

I have a blackmoor pin, ciner marking on back, like your top row in photo 8.  It appears the jewel in front of the pearl on top of the head has been replaced, the neck and head beads are turquoise. Also the jewel hanging from the chest is not there.  Would sell cheap. I would like a collector to have it.

Have a Nettie Rosenstein brooch (one of the Moorish nobility--it is the one where you have 5 of the Nettie Rosenstein and the one on the bottom left is the one I have but it's got green gemstones.  I have the set with the earrings.  It is signed. Just wondered what the price of this could be as I would like to sell them.  Thanks.

I have a drummer pin similar to the Elzac one you show. Any idea what it is worth? I restrung the drum as the cords had disintegrated. Back is unfinished ceramic, with a mark I can't read.

Wonderful assortment of Blackamoor pieces.  Would love to know the values for reference purposes only.

You have a picture featuring Blackamoors depicting Josephine Baker .  The fur clip on the bottom, far right, is one I have in my collection and it is marked Hattie Carnegie.  I don't have it on me so can't recall with which mark but not the HC I am pretty sure.  I can check if you would like to know.

What stunning pieces--some are such fun, others are simply gorgeous. #15 is absolutely to die for.

I have a coiled neck pin that I don't see in your collection, if you are interested. It is unsigned, has dangly hoop gold earrings, and a black rhinestone encircled in tiny pearls in her turban/headpiece. She is looking at the viewer. About 3" tall.

Thanks for sharing such an interesting collection!  I recently acquired a blackamoor head brooch that has blue rhinestone trembler eyes.  It is quite impressive - almost seems to be alive.  It is unsigned and I haven't seen another one like it.  Would be glad to send some photos if you would like to see it.

Love your collection.  My female blackamoor head brooch has the coiled neck with shoulders, and coiled hairdress in silver and black enamel with gold double ring earrings; with the remnant of a gold wash on the back. It is signed block "K" within a six-sided shield.

Do you know where I might buy a Golliwogg perfune bottle as shown Item #1?

debraWed, 23 Mar 2005 6:15PM

I have a very rare blackamoor made of 18k gold, with a ruby headdress and ruby necklace, signed. what do you think its worth? a jeweler valued it at 2,500 for just the jewels not the value of the antique piece.
