My name is Lilian Oliver from United Kingdom. I never believed in love spells or magic until i met this spell caster once when i went to Africa in may this year on a business summit. I meant a man who’s name is PROF. DUMGA (dumgaspell@live.com) he is really powerful and could help cast spells to bring back one’s gone, lost, misbehaving lover and magic money spell or spell for a good job or luck spell .I’m now happy & a living testimony cos the man i had wanted to marry left me 3 weeks before our wedding and my life was upside down cos our relationship has been on for 4years. I really loved him, but his family was against us and he had no good paying job. So when i met this spell caster, i told PROF. DUMGA what happened and explained the situation of things to him. At first i was undecided, skeptical and doubtful, but i just gave it a try. And in 8 days when i returned to UK, my boyfriend (now husband) called me by himself and came to me apologizing that everything had been settled with his mom and family and he got a new job interview so we should get married. I didn’t believe it cos the spell caster only asked for my name and my boyfriends name and all i wanted him to do. Well we are happily married now and we are expecting our little kid, and my husband also got the new job and our lives became much better. His email is dumgaspell@live.com

I was in Katterbach for a real long time till '86 or so.
I worked with the IC (Installation Coordinator) office for a while and I remember Sgt.(Rusty), which we played spades and poker. I believe Sgt. Libby was there also. What a great time.
I got hold of a wonderful Les Paul guitar from Evans? I still have it and it is worth a lot now. Anyhow the old stomping grounds of Katterbach, Bleidorn, Barton, Hindenburg, are such a fond memory.
I would like to hear from people that were stationed there in the 80's

I served in Ansbach twice, both times at Bleidorn Kaserne.  4th Msl Bn, 28th Arty from Apr 60-Apr 63 and with the 1st Bn, 68th Arty Oct 64 until sometime in 1966 when we relocated to Schwaebisch Hall.  One was a Lacrosse missile unit and the other was a Sergeant missile unit.  My son was born in the USAH Furth during my first tour.  Ansbach was a much more pleasant tour than Schwab. Hall.

Stationed at Barton Barracks HHC 141 SIG BN from Feb 1987 until Aug 1990. It was my first duty station and still remember so much from that place. It is amazing that after over 20 years in the Army I can still recall so much about Ansbach, my motorpool section, and others that left such an impression on my life. Truly miss those days and the friends that I made there. Take care my friends!

I served as NCOIC, 1st AD CMDSA, 141st Signal Bn, Ansbach, from 1976-1980.  It was the best tour of my career.  At one point, I served as Nuclear Control Chief while we awaited a new Warrant Officer.  I loved my troops the those I worked for, honest to God.  They were the most awesome folks I'll ever have the privilege of working with.  Any of them (or you all) are welcome to contact me. I fell in love there, and wrote about it in my book, "An Impossible Dream Story".  It's available on Amazon, but I will gift Kindle versions to anyone who will read it.

I was assigned to 1-37 Armor from Dec 1966-July 1969. I was in the HHQ maintenance Section with Sandy the Motor Sgt. Like to meet up with a few old friends.

Kenneth JonesFri, 4 Jan 2013 9:33PM

I was in A Co. 141 Sig in Ansbach from '73 to '75.  Most of it wasn't too bad.  The Yom Kippur war alerts and the "run of the mill alerts" with the Russians were irritating.  Some of us there had done our time in the Nam. Overall, it was a good time with friends and comrades and I am glad I was there.  I still think of the people I knew there and wonder what became of them-except for one I met after I got out.  I was a police officer and arrested him-what luck eh?  I wish I had contact with my old buddies/it's still a bond that can only be untended, but never forgotten.

chris youngSat, 29 Dec 2012 7:53PM

I was stationed on Biedorn Kaserne in Ansbach twice.  First assignment was direct from AIT Fort Sill, Oklahoma with an assignment with B Battery 2/28th Field Artillery from 1966-1969. After a three year tour I was promoted to SSG.  I came back for my second three year assignment with again with B Battery 2/28th FA from 1971-1974.  I will always remember the best by test battery tests that we had.  I remember this time very well as during this tour we had one Battalion test that we fired 100% of our 175MM rounds in the box.  COL Glick was Bn commander and CPT Chick was my commander.  B Battery was center battery for the Battalion and I was the Base piece section.  This was a special moment for me and I was hornored.  I would be love to hear from fellow Soldiers that were stationed with me.

Hello, I'm Billy Rice and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the base is still open and if the Katterbach hospital nearby is still there as well? The reason is I am trying to obtain records from Bliedorn from when I broke my ankle there in 1982. I was in C-Btry and was the driver for a M109, 548, and 191. We was on way to Nato23 when another driver ran me over in a 548. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Was stationed in Ansbach, 1973 to early 1975, worked in the comm center. The barracks they gave us poor WACs was the top floor of the mp bldg. No day room, no laundry facility, no cq, but we had a great time, till more WACs came in. Was great with only one to a room. Used to drive the truck to Nurenberg, when comm center went down and we had to transport msgs back and forth.
I really loved the area and the people.
Many good memories

Claude EckertSun, 22 Apr 2012 7:43PM

I was stationed at Barton Barracks with the Survey Section of HQ/1/33/210 from June '66 thru November '68.  Lots of good memories from those days - even of not so pleasent times (spending December of '66 in tents in the field sighting in "secret war time firing positions").  Somehow when going down the hill to town we often didn't make it past the Halfway House.  Managed some travel but not as much as I would have liked, but did enjoy Amsterdam multiple trips.

I was stationed in Ansbach with the 1st Missle Battalion, 33d Arty from July, 1962 through December 1964.  Served as Battalion clerk, HQ Battery clerk, mail clerk and personnel clerk.  I see that John Foust, Ken Siegel and Tony Diaz who also served with me have signed this guestbook also.  Hello and best wishes to all.  Spent many an evening at the Grey Wolf where I met the Edelhauser family who I still communicate with after nearly 50 years.  Have been back to Asnbach several times.  There have been changes since my day.  The Grey Wolf burned down in 2004 (the day before I got there); Hindenburg Kaserne is now the Brueke (Bridge) shopping mall, and the parade ground at Barton Barracks is now a parking lot.  Nothing lasts forever.  Best wishes to all who served or lived there.

We lived in Ansbach from 1966-1969. My father was in the military, and I attended second through fifth grade. I lived right across the street from the school on top of the hill.  When I went back in 1987, the school had been turned into a library.  I remember going to see movies each saturday for 25 cents on the base.  There were many adventures catching frogs at the pond and buying delicious candies at the candy store by the pond.  When we first moved there the other kids talked about the "Black-Jacks" who lived up in the "timbers" at the top of the big hill.  They would swing into your room at night and slit your throat if you didnt lock your window.  There were many times I got up and made sure those windows were locked!  Other than that childhood fairytale I have nothing but great memories of those years.

Bill LofgrenFri, 16 Sep 2011 6:23PM

I was stationed in Ansbach at Hindenburg with the 4th Armor Div., ‘A’ company as a tanker (M-60 A1) tank # A-55, from Jan. 68-June 69.  My Platoon leader’s name was Lt. Fish.  My best friends were John Karch (communications) from St Lewis, and Mike Holmes, another tanker.  Mike and I were both from Chicago.  The three of us drank our fill of “Flippies” down at Der Keugelsteuben. There was another great guy by the name of Steven Stafonic from Butt, Montana, and Bruce Lappo from Detroit.  In August of 68 the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia to put down an uprising in the city of Praque, I believe our entire 4th Division along with half of NATO were sitting on the Czeck border waiting for the Russians to come pouring into Germany (Aug. 24th 1968).  In 1969 John, Mike and I ended up separately being sent to Vietnam.  Mike stayed with armor and was wounded in Cambodia, I was assigned to a Macv Advisory team and John was a door gunner with the 25th inf. out of Chu Chi…but we all made it out alive.  I had a great time in Ansbach…lots of good people and fond memories.
Welcome home and thanks for your service.

I was stationed in the Hindenburg Kaserne in Ansback from August 1961 to November 1962.  I was a Fire Control Instrument Repair Specialist with the 87th Ordinance Company.  I have very good memories from those places. I was on TDY most of the time: Nurenberg, Stuttgart, Coburg, Bamberg, Munich, etc.  Any members of the 87th from 1961-62 out there?  Love to hear from Ligther, Brown, Migoly, Dumrouski, Arrechiga, Santos and many more.

John F. FoustTue, 15 Mar 2011 7:51PM

I was in Ansbach from April 1962 to January 1965, with the 1st Missile Battalion, 33rd Artillery, 210th Group, 7th Army, at Barton Barracks.  It was a great time, spent a real cold winter in Graffanwehr in tents.  I was assigned to the Inspector Generals Team to audit personnel records as we were turning Army bases back over to the German Army, the one I will always remember was Dachau Concentration Camp where 7th Army Prison was located, at that time displaced person from WWII still resided in the camp behind barb wire.  We returned the camp and the base back to the german army and sent our unit home.   Years later I returned to Innsbruck, to attend law classes at the University of Innsbruck.  I got out of the Army and returned to Iowa.  Great Memories.  The Black Bear, the Grey Wolf, the Florida Bar all the GI joints we hung out at when off base.

Antonio (Tony) AlvaradoFri, 10 Dec 2010 8:33PM

I was in Ansbach Germany from Mid 1983 to Early 1985.  My first Duty Station was at the Bliedorn Kasern.  A Battery of 2/28 FA.  Those were the best years of my early military years.  What I remember the most was ordering Those Great Cordon Blues with mushroom gravy and a side order of Pommes Fritts from a place down close to the bottom of the Hill.  The name of the place sounded like Lewbin Stewbings or something to that effect. Lots of my friends always got so drunk at the Liberty Bell... Any body else remember those days?

Joe TuckerSat, 4 Dec 2010 9:11PM

I was at Barton barracks from Dec. 71 thru Mar. 73.  I remember going into the local establishments with a fellow named Shaffer.  We would play Foose ball and drink free all night.  Shaffer was GOOD (He told me to keep my men out of his way).  I still keep in touch with Dan Nash.  I remember 1st sgt Webb, Lt Brown, & ssg Clay.

I was with the Headquarters Battery 2BN 28FA from April, 1977 until January, 1979. I did not love it so much at the time but would not trade the wonderful experience for anything now. Used to play Rock & Roll music as a DJ on Wednesday nights at the NCO Club. What fun that was! I have been to the area a couple times and still remember many of the surrounding towns and quite a few people that I was stationed with. Would love to hear from you if we crossed paths then. I have attended 5 or 6 of the 2/28 reunions over the last 12 years or so and they are good for the soul.

MikeThu, 11 Nov 2010 6:42AM

I was in Ansbach with the 1st/37th Armor, HQ Company.  We had moved there I forget the exact date, but in 1965 we were in Crailshiem, Germany.  I worked in the headshed LOL for Lt. Colonel John Helms... a great guy, very professional.  Remember a few people; Sgt. Major Chabala... who was a riot.  Master Sgt Sparacino... a real tough guy.  Best friends; Rick Bakenhous, Dave Hanson, Bob "Swimmer" Kyle, Dennis Orlowski, Chavez, Big Man Hudson, and Dave Sciarra from Rhode Island.  We had a bunch of characters and two dogs; Wooly Bugger and Big Dog.  Chavez was from Arizona IIRC and his mom always sent home made jerky that was awesome.  Did the Graf deal a few times, also I had a NATO Top Secret Clearance that earned me a few TDY assignments that I can never talk about!  I finished my tour in Ansbach in 1967 as a Sgt. E5 and I think we were in Ansbach at least a year... so Wikipedia has the move dates wrong.

501ST AG,

Dave IsbellTue, 24 Nov 2009 1:04PM

From 1975 - 1978 I was stationed at Bleidorn with the 501st MP Co.  Would love to hear from any MPs stationed there during that time.  I visited Ansbach in September 08, it was beautiful and we had a great time.  Things have changed... Bleidorn is a German Police facility, Barton Barracks is a ghost town (still in use, but barely), and Hindenberg is mostly gone - replaced by a mall.  Katterbach is still happening though.

I was stationed at Ansbach 1955-1957 at Headquarters. I see old friend Jim Sandrin once or twice a year. I went back in 1968 and 1999 after retiring. A lot of memories from when I was 19 years old. Still a beautiful city.

dr jim sandrin | noneThu, 20 Aug 2009 5:04PM

Was stationed (1955-56) Hq Btry, 18th FA Group, Bleidorn Kaserne. Found good army buddies Jim Rippy (medic) and Tommy Jones (supply).Learned that Tommy died in a car accident in 1961..Have been trying to locate old comrades from the above era..no luck...maybe those guys have all died or do not have computers.
Yes, Ansbach is a beautiful city..have been back there twice..in 1989 and 1995..we hung out at the Black Bear, Grau Wolf, and various joints around Ansbach and the area...

Greg BrittonSun, 16 Aug 2009 4:51PM

Served Jan'67-July'68 1st battalion 33rd arty. Barton Barracks. Fire Direction. Honest John. With HQ Battery and then 1st Battery. Made the trip to Graff four times. Remember Lt. Col Frank Shaw, SMG Harris, 1st Sgt Anderson, Sgt Pie, Sgt Fish, Sgt Brown, amoung others.  Remember the coble stone roads, the gym, theater, the parade field, the old cannon they would fire every Friday, and the basement barber shop and cleaners. Was at the Black Bear a few times. Some good memories of Ansbach and the surrounding areas, including Heidleberg.  Learned to speak German with a local family.  Their name was Kucher. It's strange how those 18 months left a permanent impression.

Jon FoleyMon, 3 Aug 2009 3:41PM

I'm another former "resident" of Hindenburg Kaserne, 1961-62. I was the company clerk of the 87th Ordnance Co., under 1SGT Robison. These pictures bring back many happy times spent in Ansbach. I belonged to a members-only jazz club which was in the basement of a building across the street from the kaserne, as I recall; played drums there occasionally. Thanks for the great photos. I'd love to go back someday; it still looks beautiful.

Was stationed at the US Army Signal School in 1957, we moved the school to Lenggries in 1958 to combine with the Quartermaster School. Col Creighton was commandant, Capt White was Adj and Major Buddenhagen was stationed there also. Jerry Young and I worked in the message center. Erika Kempf worked for Col Creighton. Sure would like to get in contacy with her, as her boyfriend (Jerry Young) was killed on his ranch in Texas a few years after we got out of the service. I was able to contact his sister and got the details of his death.

I was stationed at Hindenburg Kaserne with the 750th FA Bn, 7th
US Army in 1955-57. I was a Arty Survey Spec and spent much of my time at Vilseck, Grafenwohr, Wildflecken observing fire missions.  In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, business picked up for a while, but then calmed down (thank, God). Went back for a "look see" in 1987 and found the 1st Armored Div in my old barracks...old times and old Soldiers, gone and mostly forgotten.

Loved the pictures… I was in Ansbach from 1973-1975. First at Barton Barracks, A Company 141st Signal Battalion ..later at Hindenburg ..HQ PIO office where I work as the division broadcaster for AFN.  I transferred back to the 141st to work for Special Services where we built the Barton Entertainment Center Keller below the mess hall. I was the fist manager of the facility. We had a film library and a lot of band instruments that the guys could come and play. We had several bands spring up back then..good times… I hope it’s still there.

I loved Ansbach and still do. I hope to make a trip back there sometime next year with Top…. 1st Sgt Richard Webb. We are still friends and still talk several times a year.

Good luck to all who are stationed in Ansbach

My Dad was in the 1st A.D. Band at Bleidorn Kasern from 88-91. We lived on the economy with a wonder German Family. They have become a part of our family and we still visit and call them. Dad's band was the one that went to Desert Storm in 91. We love Ansbach. It is our 2nd home and is a wonderful city with great people and lots of things to see and do. All I can say for anyone moving to Germany is to take advantage of your time. Travel and see as much as you can.

I lived in Ansbach from 1989 to 1992....I miss it SOOOOOO much! I loved being there. It is So beautiful, and the people are so helpful, kind, and eager to break any communication barriers...food, beer, and laughter are universal! LOL...thank you for the incredible photos! It still looks like "Home" to me!

David WoodMon, 16 Jun 2008 4:45AM

Great pictures. I was stationed at Barton barracks from 1979 to 1982. I really loved that town. I went back in 1987 and it was still the same.

AngieSat, 31 May 2008 7:28PM

The pictures reminded me of why I missed Ansbach so much when I left. Was there 5 years early 80's.  My sons went to German school in Ansbach and learned to speak fluent German, they want to go back one day, before they forget the language.  It was beautiful then and looks like it still is.  Thanks for sharing!

Nice pictures, quality presentation, Thanks.   A lot more art in the streets then I remember.  The foot walk downtown pictures are cool, traced some routes to a few of my old favorite places like, “Rancheros", "the Clock" and McDonalds.  The palace grounds are as I remember it very calming.  Hello to those who remember getting paid and having good days in Ansbach; 1990-1992, 501st MP Co., Bleidorn Kaserne, SWA, back to 'Ol Ziggy' then Barton Barracks.  Peace!

Mike GeeseySun, 13 Apr 2008 7:54AM

I was a Platoon sergeant of 3rd platoon, 630th MP Co. at Bleidorn Kaserne, from late 88 then got promoted to MSG and moved to 1AD HQ at Hindenburg Kaserne. while I was at 1AD HQ the first Gulf war was starting and I moved back to Bleidorn as 1SG of 501st MP company and deployed to SWA.

Since I have noticed that some of you, like myself, who were stationed in one of the three barracks in Ansbach many years ago would like to go bach and see what it looks like, may I offer a suggestion? Download Google Earth if you don't have it already, and then in the space where you can search for a specific area write "Barton Barracks, Ansbach, Germany," and you will see the place; and I'm sure it will bring you back some of those unforgeteable memories.  I did, and was surprised that Barton Barracks still almost the same.....was even abled to see the building there I lived for two a a half years from 1962 to 65.....good luck

Tony DiazSat, 22 Mar 2008 3:44PM

Note to Hardy Stewart. Hardy, I remember you, we were in the same section under Sargeant Decker and Lt. Bartelli. I have a photo of all of us which was taken by Sargeant Decker during a field exercise. Remember the old first launcher section: Claybough, Ansdorff, Stewart, Angulo, Diaz, Vasquez, Clark, Sgt Decker, Sgt Davis, Lt Bartelli, Byrd, Skurlock, Hawker.....we are all in that photo.

I'm on my second tour in Germany.  I was stationed in Illesheim for 3 1/2 years, went to flight school and now I'm at Katterbach with a MEDEVAC unit.  Ansbach is a pretty cool city.  I really like it-not too big, not too small.  Some of the bars mentioned must be a thing of the past.  I've never seen or heard of them.  I'm willing to snap some photos and send them.  If anyone has a request let me know via email.

Karlheinz DuernerSun, 17 Feb 2008 6:44AM

Hi there,

I was stationed in Ansbach from 1058-1960.  I enjoyed my stay very much there.  I wonder, does the old Hindenburg Kaserne still exist?  It was across the river bridge from the downtown section.  I will be in the area in October and would like to look things up again.

Ah yes, the Gray Wolf.  I remember it well and also the Black Bear and the Cafe Kurtt.

Thanks!

Looking over these photos bring back memories.  Was born in Ansbach and left in 1960.  Came back to Augsburg 1964 to 1968 ith many visits to Ansbach..still have cousins living there as well as relatives outside of Ansbach in Berndorf.  Last time I was there was in 1997 and looking at these pictures some of the art work and fountains must have been built after that.  I miss Ansbach and it will forever be "Meine Heimatstadt"
