Hello! I am hoping to verify what was sold to me as an unsigned Haskell brooch.

Hi I'm another person looking to authenticate an unsigned Miriam Haskell piece from the 1930s. It is a four stranded White glass bead Lariat necklace with white leaves and flowers fur clips. I also have the matching earrings.

Looking for help with what I think is an early unsigned Miriam Haskell brooch....i think Frank Hess

Tawnya ByarlayWed, 29 Jul 2020 8:44PM

Is there someone that could verify if a necklace is an unsigned Frank Hess for Miriam Haskell piece?  It is a woven cord with 7 peg-style streak painted clothes pins.  I can send pictures.  Thank you!

DonnaWed, 22 Jul 2020 10:59PM

is there a place to post a picture of a possible Miriam Haskell brooch for authentication?

Anne G.Mon, 11 Jun 2018 7:24AM

I have a coil bracelet with matching earrings made of glass beads, ea. bead is 7mm long.  The set looks like sea anemones.  It's extremely well-made and trembles.  Is it MH?

Looking forward to info on unsigned pieces of Mariam Haskell.

Hello
I may not be where I’m supposed to be..as I only signed up for this website
to learn about costume jewelry.
I’m a newbie and appreciate any information I can find.
I’m confused about one thing..and I’m sure it’s as simple explanation as can be... but since I’m not familiar I wanted to ask.
I’ve heard repeatedly that there are no unsigned Miriam Haskell necklaces with a “hook” clasp... unless signed OR the hook clasp is adorned.
I’m wanting to know what I am missing in the book “The Jewels of Miriam Haskell” page 80. There is a beautiful green unsigned necklace by Frank Hess. The text says unsigned..however the hook has no embellishments.
What am I missing? Was it made for another designer? So technically not Miriam Haskell?
Thank you for your understanding and patience... I really hope to become as informed as you all...(someday..fingers crossed)
Thank you again
Shelli

I have a set that I am trying to get authenticated, necklace, bracelet, earrings. I found the same bracelet sold on another site that said it was Miriam Haskell. I would just like to be sure. Is that something that you can help me with. I have your book and have read through it, but would like more guidance. Any help would be much appreciated, even giving me someone to contact who could take a look at them. Thank You!

Great site..... thanx for all the hard work.
I am a little confused.  At the bottom of the page I noticed an item which was marked sold.  Is this a selling site as well as an information site.

A great resource. Thank very much for your time and efforts!

I love vintage jewelry, especially Haskell.  I have all of your books and admire your knowledge and expertise in this area.  I have a collection of not only vintage/antique jewelry but also Haskell.
I come to your site frequently and am contemplating joining, except I am a little confused as to whether this site is for pictures only or if it is for selling/buying as well.  Can someone help me out?
Blessings,
Laurie

I have a question about Miriam Haskell Pharaoh bracelet.  I see comparable pieces with the head wired. Mine is not.  Is mine a fake or were there two versions of this? Any help would be appreciated.  Can send photos.

Discovered your research when trying to identify coral bead and gold chain lariat necklace found in mother's estate.  Thank you for making this work available.  Your work is appreciated and very helpful.  Plus, it's a treat to see so many pieces compiled into one page.

Great reference site.  Thanks so much for all your hard work and effort!  I think it is #219 where there are a group of pieces and it says the one in the upper left may have lost its gilding.  I have seen similar pieces in the Cera book and they were in 'silvered' metal.  Could be.

Laurie Julian | lauriejulianspina520@gmail.comSat, 29 Jun 2013 9:28AM

I've recently discovered Miriam Haskell, and all I can say is - Wow!  To think that so many of these incredible pieces were handmade in the USA.  Wish you could find this kind of quality now.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures.  Gives me yet another reason to avoid my work and spend hours on the Internet.  ;-D

Janet BrazilThu, 26 Jul 2012 10:28PM

I think I have a unsigned Miriam Haskell necklace, I got a antique dealer to look and she also agreed, it is all the gold tone and all hand done with the flower cluster also in the gold tone, a beautiful piece, I would love to have you look at it.

I just opened a showcase in an antique mall in Plantation Florida.  I am featuring a collection of Miriam Haskell.  I am so insoired by her and her story.  As soon as I started to collecther incredible creations, I just xouldn't stop .  I have , in the past four months amassed abouth three hundred of Miriam Haskell's  pieces.  My web site is under construction and will be called  "Miriam & Me".  Cathy Gorson's book has been an invaluable resource for learning about  researching each piece.  And now I am looking forward to being a part of this informative community.

Thanks again for such an informative photo collection.  You're my number one source for researching Haskell jewelry.

Now I know what I have been collecting over the years
I had no idea who she was, or what it was, but I have a number of these early works. I just buy what appeals to me, never thought of looking for any one behind the work. Have been collecting jewlery since I was a kid in the 60's, still am all these years later.

Hi, I have a brooch that I believe to be early unsigned Haskell jewelry. I have included a link to my album on a Facebook site and would love it if you could help me identify it. It is an all metal bar pin with swags of leaves and what look to be berries or pinecones. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

angela Mon, 17 Oct 2011 7:22PM

Very nice. I have a haircomb rather large that is signed miriam haskell. It appears to be coral in an elaborate brass setting. Did she make this kind of ornaments often or is it rare? I have looked for months for something similiar .Any information would be deeply appreciated. Thanks

JanSun, 17 Jul 2011 5:58PM

On Friday, 7/15/11, I went to Fine Arts Shop, to get some old jewelry repaired. The person helping me told me that one of the pieces was "A Miriam Haskell" she said with awe. She told me to go look it up online to see what I had in my possession.  I had not noticed the brand on the back, and had never heard of it.  I am thrilled to find similar pieces in this website.  What do you suggest I do about getting it repaired?  They said they can do it.

DeniseSun, 12 Jun 2011 12:41AM

Love the pictures. Thanks so much for this.

Kathy FranicsFri, 18 Feb 2011 8:21PM

Hi Cathy - I love your site and have always admired Haskell from afar - never have seen one in person - LOL. I have a question about an unsigned bracelet.  It has the exact same clasp as the 4 gilt chain bracelet in your unsigned folder. If you get a chance to stop by the Jewelry & Gemstone board on eBay and look at the "Could this be Haskell" thread posted on 1/26/11.  I'd love to have your opinion. Thanks so much! Kathy

Hi Cathy,
This is an absolutely phenomenal web site and most jewelry lovers appreciate it very much. It's unfortunate though that many people seem to think it's an appraisal web site. See the last 6 messages.

Hi Cathy! Great website! If you get a chance could you stop by the jewelry & Gemstones board on ebay and take a look at the 2nd and 3rd pieces in the thread titled "Are these old pieces anything good?" and let me know what you think? Thanks so much!

Laura BindrumMon, 10 Jan 2011 8:57AM

Hi Cathy, I have collected many early Haskell pieces and while I have confirmed some of them as early Haskell (with the aid of your book and website), there are many pieces that I have not been able to confirm.  I would greatly appreciate your expert knowledge and time in reviewing these pieces and letting me know your thoughts.  Thank you!  LB

Love all the jewlery!!  Is there a way I can askyou a question?   Here or somewhere else?

ErikaTue, 23 Nov 2010 11:26AM

Hi Cathy, I was referred to you by an ebay member to inquire whether a necklace of mine was made by Miriam Haskell. For the record, I will NOT be selling it. I enjoy wearing it and displaying it in my vintage jewelry collection when it is not being worn:) If you have a free moment, could you look at the pictures and determine if Miriam Haskell was the maker? Thank you!

Hi!
I just love this site!! I just purchased a large lot of quality jewelry with several signed Haskell pieces, and quite a few pieces that look like Haskell but are unsigned. Is it possible for me to send you some pictures for you to take a look at them? I have your book, but don't see any just like them in there. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks so much!

Hello Cathy, I adore this site! I have a question about a pair of clip earrings that I currently have on the ebay discussion boards. They have all the bells & whistles of Miriam Haskell, 50's clips match, hand strung beads, pear shaped rhinestones & fabulous filigree back, but they are unsigned & the clip on your picture #16(last one on bottom) is signed, can you possibly take a look at them or may I send you a couple pictures? I though maybe Robert if not Miriam Haskell.  Thank you for your fantastic site & wealth of information! Carole

Thanks!

Jannie StarkSat, 20 Feb 2010 10:44AM

I would like to thank you very much for the most informative and enjoyable visit to your site. I have been a collector/dealer for the past 30+ years and much to my astonishment found myself learning from your site. Never again will I be able to say "I've seen it all". The work to photograph and catalouge your site has been enormous and my note is to tell you so. I have recently begun to design my own pieces...apparently mostly inspired by Haskell. I am re-using old clips, pendants, brooches that need a little repair and restoration and pieces that would otherwise go unused and Heaven Forbid!!!! thown away. It keeps me occupied in Snowy Saskatchewan during the hard winter months. Again, many thanks for new knowledge, new inspiration and above all jewelry to make my jewelry collecting heart pound with absolute delight!
Best regards from a long-wintered Saskatchewan
Jannie Stark.

Hello Cathy!  Really appreciate the fabulous job you've done with this site, and thank you for maintaining such a great resource!  Wonderful folks on ebay's JGB thought that a wooden bead necklace I posted might just be Haskell.  Thread name is "Wood Bead Necklace...I know I've seen this before" if there is a possibility you might take a look and give a "yay" or "nay", that would be super!

I am searching to replace a necklace of my Mothre's that was lost in a move. It was a glass fruit necklace that was my Grandmothers so it was old. Been told that a designer by the name of Miriam Haskell was the designer. but there were also two other designers @ her era. Hi, Cathy!
Thanks SO MUCH for your wonderfully helpful jewelry pages & book! You're providing such valuable resources for us all!
A quick question...I've posted on the eBay Jewelry Board a demi-parure (bracelet & brooch) that I believe is an old, unsigned Haskell set. Everyone says I should get your opinion on it, so I'm writing to you to ask you to please take a look and tell us what you think. I have a lovely necklace that may be a Haskell can I email a photo to you ? I am interested in selling it and it would be nice to know for sure if it is a Haskell.  I have owned your book for 3 yrs now and I keep it on my end table as I constantly enjoy the lovely jewelry of Ms Haskell.

Hi Cathy! I'm another Cathy ... from the Jewelry Board on eBay. If you have a minute, I'd love to have your opinion on a pair of earrings I have posted a question about. The thread is called "Do these look like Haskell to you?" Thanks for your time, and for this wonderful resource.

Dear Cathy, thank you for the beautiful photo's, which are much better than the Miriam Haskell book. I was just thinking of selling the few pieces I have as I rarely wear them now, when I came across this site... not any more! if anything, I'd love to try and find something like the turquois sets you show. Thank you so much.

Dear Cathy

I have been a collector of Miriam Haskell's jewelry since the 1990s and have one of the faux-pearl & rhinestone pieces featured in Deanna Farneti Cera's book among others. I am looking for a Haskell aficionado who might be interested to acquire my entire collection (I'm not interested in selling them on ebay on a piecemeal basis) and should be grateful if you would let me whether you would be interested in viewing photos of my collection.

Kind regards

Cathy - This is an incredible website for us who are interested in Miriam Haskell jewelry. Thank you for sharing with us. I would appreciate a little more information. I see that people have asked questions and I assume you, as a collector and expert, take the time to answer them as best you can. Can any of us "pick your brain?" Is this open to the public so to speak? Thank you. Melanie Kutilek

I have a signed Mirium Haskell long plastic or celluloid chain in tortoise shell color. The links are large and it has a spring closure with MK tag. Every other link has the name Mirium Haskell. Can you tell me more about it? Thank you MJK

hello! i stumbled across this site hoping to find anyone who could tell me about the necklace i have. I found it in a thrift store. It's gold fortune cookie with a fortune tag attached to it,inscribed'if everything seems to be coming your way, you're probably in the wrong lane." It says Haskell on the fortune tag. It quite cute, and i wondered if there was any sort of story behind it.

thank you!

I have discovered what I believe is an early unsigned Miriam Haskell.  After viewing all of your wonderful information, I wondered if you are able to verify this outstanding necklace.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

Cathy,
When you get a free minute, would you mind checking out a demi I picked up today? Not sure if it's a Haskell or a wannabe!
Thanks so much,Tammy

THANK YOU! I have been trying to find more information on a piece of jewelry to write a listing for eBay.  I had almost given up, and I posted it earlier today with skeletal (Halloween pun, sorry) details.  Moments later I came across your site and found unmistakable similarities between one of the items shown and the piece I listed.  The "gilt lily leaf" among other things!  I am so excited because the piece I listed is so beautiful, it clearly deserves attribution!  So, there you have it, Miriam Haskell, now it makes sense.  I have a feeling I'll regret selling it one day...  Anyway, thanks for all sharing your knowledge :-)

I JUST DISCOVERED MIRIAM HASKELL RECENTLY...  LOVE HER JEWELS... LOVE YOU, TOO, FOR THIS SITE!!!  THANK YOU ~~~~

Anastasia BryantSat, 13 Oct 2007 1:43PM

Cathy, I have posted a necklace on the jewelry board that I think might be an unsigned Haskell. I would appreciate it greatly if you could take a look when you have time and see what you think.

Good Morning Cathy!
I have a pin that I'm told might be a Haskell.I have pics in the Jewelry & Gemstones discussion board on Ebay. The title is: Does this wired pin look like any specific maker?
Thanks so much!

Hi Cathy, I have 3 unsigned pieces on the ebay jewelry and gemstones discussion board. One is what I believe is a Spezzati Coral wrap bracelet. Also a lariet necklace and another necklace. I would be very appreciative if you would take a look and offer your opinion. The title is "3 Haskell pieces, opinions please". Thanks so much, Kathleen

TammySat, 15 Sep 2007 5:39PM

Hi Cathy,
I have a piece I am almost positive is Miriam Haskill, but am looking for confirmation of that.  It is an unsigned piece, and I have it on the eBay discussion board, post title: Miriam Haskill ??.  Any input from you would be fabulous.  Thanks so much! Tammy

LesleyTue, 21 Aug 2007 8:35PM

Amazingly stunning collection!!!  WOW!

I came upon your website when researching the Miriam Haskell necklace my mom has had for over 40 years or so.  She even has a hard cardboard painting(??) of a woman in a brown 30's or 40's(??) type woman's suit, hairdo, and hat with netting in the front with the actual necklace painted around her neck and matching bracelet (mom believes she has the bracelet too, but she's not sure what she did with it at this juncture)painted around her wrist.  On the cardboard painting(??) there is an aluminum foil(??) type sticker with black letters that say "Miriam Haskell."

I believe the Miriam Haskell necklace we have must be an unsigned piece from the 40's(??), due to the cardboard painting that came with it and the design, but I know nothing about Miriam Haskell and her magnificent pieces and mom knows only that it was sold to her over 40 or so years ago as a genuine Miriam Haskell.

I must admit that we are both very curious about any information we can obtain about the Miriam Haskell necklace we have in our possession.  We would deeply appreciate your great expertise.  Can I send you photos?

The necklace is an exquisite piece and has the same chain and turquoise type balls and chain curled hangers as your #66 unsigned Miriam Haskell necklace on your website, but the necklace itself is quite different due to having a great deal more turquoise on it.

We would be grateful for your assistance!

Warm regards,

Lesley

Dear Cathy-Thank you for your quick reply on the baroque necklace. The pearls are all baroque, it is a heavy necklace, but I am not sure if it is plastic or glass? I am new to jewelry and I did the tooth test, but now everything sounds the same to me!

I really enjoyed this site. I was recently given a box of jewelry that belonged to a 81 year olds mother. It had been stored in their garage for 21 years. Several pieces are so beautifull that i feel they must be Haskell but they are unsigned and i havent been able to find a appraiser in the area.

As a lover and collector of vintage jewelry, I have only recently become aware of the fabulousness that is Haskell. When I am introduced to something that interests me, naturally I want to know more about that something. Your tour was a brilliant starting point in my endeavor to learn about all things Haskell! Thank you for sharing! Now I'm off to the next tour!

What a thrill it is to see all these pieces.  Please send me newsletters.

Leah SharpeThu, 1 Dec 2005 7:59PM

WOW!You have an awsome collection! What a pleasure to see these beautiful pieces! She was the best wasn't she!! I have a friend that called me and asked me if I ever heard of her. She has a piece from her mother. Now I can't wait to see it! I believe I have a piece and I know I had one of those elaborate necklaces with many strands of clear rod type beads and a huge flower made from the same beads with a pink rinstone in the middle. I think I gave it to my sister to make me a watch out of some of the beads because several strands were broken. She never did. I'm going to call her tomorow and tell her to find it and give it back. You would love it! Thanks for giving me your website! I will be out there looking and I will email you if I find a piece. I will pass on your web site to my friends because you have the most beautiful pieces!! you are so lucky! You must be very proud of this collection! I know I would be!!! Thanks so much for sharing your labours of love. I only recently discover Miriam Haskell, having been obliquely led to her work after seeing a vintage piece on "Antiques Roadshow". Arriving at your site
felt like arriving to the portals of heaven. I'm a fledgeling aspiring jewellery designer and the BACKS of the pieces and the construction info has been just as exciting to see as the fronts... maybe more so.  THANKS so much!

Thx so much for the wonderful compendium of Miriam Haskell jewelry!  I found the identical bracelet and dress clip that I own. Additionally I was able to match another dress clip to one of your bracelets. Without your superb reference I would only be guessing, as all of them were unmarked.  Thx again!!!

Oh, what can one say when feasting their eyes on such fabulous pieces by Miriam Haskell. While I would never consider copying her work I am interested in how she makes the silk thread over the spring wire in her wrap bracelets.  Can you tell me more about that technique.  Thanks so much for providing this breathtaking view of the most wonderfully made jewelry of all time in my opinion. You are truly blessed to own such pieces. Thank you for the privilege.

I'm about to list a signed Haskell bracelet and necklace set on Ebay.  My problem is, it has huge orange colored stones, and I don't know what they are?  In addition, it has a bird on the clasp.  If anyone has any idea what these stones are, please let me know. Thanks! P.S. I also have a very elaborate Haskell pearl necklace listed in my Rubylane shop.
