I was so excited to see the Francis Peirson ring.  I am an art historian working on the Copley painting and would love to know if you have any idea where the ring is from, and if you have ever seen any others like it.  Thanks very much.

Hi - I wonder if you can tell me anything more about the ring belonging to Major Francis Peirson. He was the brother of my husbands 4th great grandmother and where the family name of Peirson comes from. It was great to see the photo on your site.

I inherited a brooch from my Auntie approx. 20 years ago and I just came across it the discription is: gold oval casting approz 14 inch high with black onyx stone in center are firds taking a brid bath in a bowl which looks like some type of brass bowl or gold which would based on the designer, but what mackes this so unusal is that there are cracks in the black stone whcih do not go thru the birds in the center...I could email a photo ..I'm just trying to see what it is worth and  possible of selling it...Thanks for for help in advance..Debbie

Isaac P berthon Born 6 Aug 1663 Chatellerault, in his Will of 1747 refers to closer
relatives in France, Holland and elsewhere but bequeths to 'cousins'.
I have traced a branch of Berthons from Lisbon, too London, Amsterdam and  
Australia but at the moment,  though Isaac is a 'cousin' of, I have not
solved the family connection yet.
Rev Edward Lyon Berthon M.A. and Inventor of the Berthon Collapsible  Boat, says  "
My family is decended from the ' haute nobless' of France. MY Fathers great
grandfather St Pol le Berthon was the only son of the Heguenot Marquis de
Chatellerault who survived the massacre that followed the revocation of the edits of
Nantes in A.D. 1685. He escaped to Bordeaux and eventually Lisbon ".

Raymond Tinne Berthon who undetook considerable research into the Berthon and related
families has about 14 Berthon Family Pedigree Books deposited with the SOG in London,
snippetts of his research I have  accessed via the web but gold awaits at the SOG.

Wonderful collection!  I just have a correction to make for your item "392 Memento Mori enamel slideCirca late 1600s?"  - I recognized that this is not just a skeleton but the "Shroud of Turin" showing the linen imprinted with the body of Christ.  Clearly it shows all the nail wounds on Christ's hands and feet including the wound on His side and the wounds of the crown of thorns on His forehead.  It is shown adored by angels with a monstrance that symbolizes the body of Christ right above it.

I came here curious to know if you know anything about the designer or country of origin of Dunn Jewelry from the early 20th Century. They produced Gold Taille d' Epargne bracelets and lockets mostly. Im wondering if this is Walter A Dunn, and if it was an American firm, and if there is any connection to JR Dunn Jewelry in FL. Hello, Congratulations!  You have many lovely items in your collection. You may be interested to know that I believe the initials on your miniature no. 27 are not E S H, but instead G S H - for Gerald Sinclair Hayward (1845-1926), who was a highly regarded miniature painter of 1890-1920. Also, in case it helps, I think items 55 and 56 were probably painted around 1900 to 1910.

Stumbled upon your amazing collection. Spectacular!! One thing that may or not be true, I've been told that if pearls are added to a piece it often makes it a mourning piece as pearls are for tears. I've heard this from my grandfather who is an antique dealer and auctioneer and has been for nearly 60 years.

I love this beautiful collection!  Just wait till I show my friend :)  65 and 66 are wonderful!  Then so are the others!

Is aany of this Fabulous Jewelry for sale????Plesae tell me if/how I can purchase the item described as eorgian eye miniature enameled mourning ring. Neo-classical design with two urns poised horizontally on the shank.  The face panel has an outer rim of black enamel with finely looped gold inlay in a continuous pattern.  The center chamber features a beautiful painted eye miniature.  Inscription on the inside of the ring is too faint to read, but you can make out the date of 1817.
PLEASE HELP, I am in love with a ring!!!
