Honor Guard and Honor Flight (June 7, 2012)| Hundreds turned out at the Vermilion County Airport to honor Lance Cpl. Joshua Witsman who was recently killed in Afghanistan as his body was returned home. The Danville Balloon Group also gave honor with a flight carrying some currently serving members of the Armed Forces as well as Veterans. |

Moments Musical (May 27 and 28, 2011)| Danville (Illinois) High School presented a special "Moments Musical" this year. The DHS auditorium was named the "Dick Van Dyke Auditorium" at the performance. Mr. Van Dyke was not able to attend due to back problems, but he attended via Skype, watching the musical and participating in the dedication of the auditorium. |

The stadium was used in the filming of the 1992 movie "The Babe" starring John Goodman as Babe Ruth, standing in for scenes of Fenway Park and Forbes Field. |

Arts In The Park (June, 2008)Arts In The Park is held each summer in Danville's Lincoln Park. Here are some sights from the event. In addition to artists selling their art, there are also musical performances all weekend long in the bandshell.
As you can see in the photos, this year also featured a couple that impersonates President Lincoln and Mrs. Lincoln.

Downtown Danville Fire (March 26, 2008)Downtown Danville, Illinois was struck by another fire on March 26, 2008. The photos in this album are not as much a record of the fire as they are a representation of Danville's firefighters and all the good they do for our city.
Once again, as they did during the Chittick Eye Care fire in 2006, the Danville Fire Department kept a major fire from destroying a whole block and becoming a major disaster.

Temple Plaza (February 7, 2004)This is part of Temple Plaza in Downtown Danville, Illinois. The brick bas-relief sculpture is by Donna Dobberful and is 10'x30'.
The Temple archway is the only remaining part of the old Temple Building built in 1901. The Temple building was home of the Danville Masonic Temple from 1901-1916. |
