Marc  Cooper Edit
Doug Rankin submitted this for Memorial Edit
"Marc "Tex" Cooper Aug 7, 2017 Marc "Tex" Cooper passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, at St. Vincent, Indianapolis surrounded by his family. He was born February 20, 1945, in Bangor, Maine. Survivors include his canoe buddy and wife of 48 years, Henri Cooper; son, Sean (Amber) Cooper; daughter, Jendy (Wade) Hanson; grandchildren, Jax, Zander, Cruz and Jolie; and one sister, Donnelle Gooch of San Marcos, Texas. He had been the parts manager at Tom O'Brien, worked at Gaerte Engines, Specialty Tool & Die, and retired from Chrysler on March 1, 2017. Along with his passion of drag racing since 1960, Marc enjoyed canoeing, traveling and flying his ultra-lite plane. Marc raced several vehicles throughout his career, from a supercharged 1957 Chevrolet to his most recent supercharged 1955 Chevrolet. It was this car that he was most proud and had his most fun. While running with the Bar's Leaks Supercharged Thunder, Marc thrilled the crowds with his long smoky burnouts. Marc will be missed by many and as he would say, "Glad you got to meet me!" The family would like to say thank you to all who prayed and came to visit; special thanks to Dr. Stephen Swinney for his wonderful care and compassion. There will be no visitation but a memorial service will be held at Galveston First Baptist Church in Galveston, Indiana on August 12, 2017 at 4 PM. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be shared with the family online at: www.shirleyandstout.com." --admin, 06/24/18
