1 brown road-may 6, 2009 this is really a yard, not a little lake! i drove down, and then back up through the water--thankfully it wasn't deep!
2 brown road-may 6, 2009 another back yard--the water in the foreground was right beside the road--and to the top of the drainage ditch!
3 brown road-may 6, 2009 i had made it through the water, down to where the subscribers lived and was coming back to the main highway--had to cross it, and do the other side! the top of the hood of my little honda civic is in the bottom of this photo
4 brown road-may 6, 2009 here is a closer view of a back yard--that is a little storage shed, and usually it does not have water around it!
5 rifle lane this one was just scarey!! all that water is NOT supposed to be there!! this is a paved road! there are 4 foot deep, 6 foot wide drainage ditches just past the brick mailbox, on both sides of the road--but they were full, and flowing like a stream!
6 rifle lane another view of the mailbox in the lake! this is the kind of water that has been on these roads off and on since saturday, may 2, 2009
7 rifle lane-may 6, 2009 this is the opposite side of the road to the brick mailbox
that water was deep!!! i didn't get any closer to it than where i am in this photo!
8 shotgun lane this paved road is the next one off a main road---luckily i was at the subscribers drive when i took this one! no problems here!
9 rifle lane--after the water!
taken may 13, 2009, this is what it looks like when the water receded
10 rifle lane--where the water went
may 13, 2009
this is a drainage ditch along the road that runs into the 'canal' on either side--this is what was left
11 rifle lane--water beside 'canal'
may 13, 2009 this water was still standing on the land surrounding the 'canal' on either side of the pavement
12 rifle lane--'canal'
may 13, 2009 this is where the drainage ditch drains into--a wide, deep, 'canal' on either side of the road
13 bland chapel road--may 13, 2009
this is what the road did when it was flooded--the water had filled the side drainage ditches, and overflowed the paved section on may 2, 2009---that's a LOT of water!
14 bland chapel road--may 13, 2009
here is another view of the depth of the drainage ditch--the water dug the trench this deep--it was only a couple of feet deep before the flooding!!
15 bland chapel road--closer view
may 13, 2009 someone stuck a branch in the hole that was left after the flood waters went down--the pavement just fell off in a big chunk!
16 bland chapel road
may 13, 2009 the water had filled the deep drainage ditch, and overflowed the pavement--it's scary even with out the water!!
17 south kerr station road--still high water!
may 13, 2009 the water was still very high and flowing rather swiftly through the culverts on both sides--at least it had gone down enough to drive on the pavement!!
18 poor ole horse! may 13, 2009 this poor little horse has looked like this for the four years i've been driving past his pasture!
he seems happy though!
19 paper fetching puppy on my route-he's sooo cute!
