Speed Freak Racing Personal Page... (2012)Hello Everyone!
First…Let me begin by stating that my photo website is dedicated to all the people that love the sport of dragboat racing, and racing in general. My style of photography for many years is to photograph an event, and let the photographs tell the story; I will add some filler information to the photographs at times.
I do like to write and share my opinion, and give somewhat of an over-view of some of the action that surrounds the event.

You may have heard a rumor floating around about Bill Diez building a brand new Top Alcohol Flat...? Yes the rumor is true! But it will be some time before the boat is ready to race.
2012 We are currently working on a brand new small Curtis/Brendel hull; I hope to be out by Mid-Season racing some NJBA events, and hopefully San Diego & World Finals in Phx. AZ.

NHRA - Las Vegas,NV. (March 31 & April 1-2012)Hello Everyone!
As always Vegas is a great event and a lot of great racing over the weekend which fans were well entertained. On Sat. the heat was out baking the track enough that many of the TFD & FFC teams had their hands full figuring out their tune-up for the hot track conditions, Buy Sunday the temperature came down enough that the race teams provided excellent ET’s and MPH in all classes.

The Best of...2011 (2011 Racing Action)Hello Everyone!
What a year 2011 was with a ton of great racing action in all the associations, and the ground breaking of the opening of the new Lucas Oil race track in Wheatland MO.

The Best of...2010 (2010 Racing Action)Hello Everyoone,
Pictured is your 2010 TFH World Champion John Haas Driving Speed Sports-TFH
With the win this year John Haas is all alone in a class by himself as the very first 5-Time Winner in the Top Fuel Hydro Class...2005-2007-2008-2009 & 2010
On Aug. 7th of this year John Haas lost his life from injuries he sustained in a crash in his TFH.

Hello Everyone,
I have been blessed to have traveled through most of this beautiful country over the years, but…I have never been to the state of Michigan.
As I was in the air nearing Grand Rapids Airport I was impressed at the open spaces of the land, properties, and the many water-ways, lakes, and ponds.
As I was traveling from the airport to Allegan to John’s house, which is about a 30-minute drive, I noticed how clean the highways were kept up, including the road pavement and the country side roads.
I love wide open spaces and I have to admit that I fell in love with the few days I spent in the surrounding areas of Grand Rapids, Allegan, Holland, Etc.
Once I arrived in downtown Allegan, I felt as if I have stepped back 40-50 years with its antique style buildings, and narrow roads.
Allegan Mi. is one of those well kept secrets where everyone knows one another by their first name, and where a hand shake still has value!!
The outpouring of peoples feelings in regards to John Haas passing has just been amazing, and yet humbling.
John was loved and admired by so many! John’s fan base has been growing over the years; everyone that comes in contact with John quickly became a fan, with his very humble nature, great smile!!
When it came to racing John let his right foot, do the talking!! And it did…Countless E.T. & MPH Records and…5-Top Fuel Hydro Championships…something that no one has ever achieved.
John’s son Joey told me dad always said…”Never lift till you see fish” I so laughed my tail off when Joey told me that as we both were having a cold one over-looking the lake in John’s back yard.
John and I had spoken many times over the years about me coming to visit him in his neck of the woods, and now that he is gone, I have to admit that I am very saddened that I kept putting off the visit thinking oh…. next year! Well next year never will come now (Sad).
Unfortunately many of us these days get caught up with work and daily life activities, and as the old saying goes we forget to stop and smell the roses or some of the little awesome things that life has to offer.
350-400 people showed up to John’s house to pay their respect and condolences to the family, Denna John’s wife, John’s sons John Jr. & Joey family and friendS did a magnificent job in preparing the memorial service in John’s back yard. It rained most of the morning & afternoon during the service, but it did not stop any of the plans, and many of John’s friends brought their boats to fire the engines in a salute to John.
Lou Osman the owner of the Speed Sports TFH brought the motor that John made his last pass all ready to fire in the back of his dually.
Heartfelt love and prayers to the entire Haas family…
Once again…God has an amazing warrior at his side…A Father, Amazing Husband, A True Gentleman…A Champion!
ONE CAN SAY…JOHN HAAS LIVED!! AND LIVED WELL!!!
