Pier To Peak Now a true half marathon with a 0.2 mile added increment to make this the one of the USA's most challenging legitimate half marathon road races.
Race director jake Clinton asked me to take at a location that really "charactrerizes" the event.
Dennis located himself at mile 12 on the "steeps" with the Los Padres Wilderness in the background. Kevin Young recommended such a site.
Eric Forte easily won the event in about 1 hour 35 minutes for 13.1 miles and 4000 ft altitude gain.

enlarge 340KB, 1280x960 12 p2p 111Edit Boise State University runner won overall. Eric Forte age 42 was way way ahead of younger guys/gals. Eirc runs about 40 miles/week and most of his fun training is on the frint side trails. Eric is either in SB or Idaho running. this year he felt great and used his last year effort to know the course. He worked quite hard the entire effort. (Dj know this because he convinced Eric to take my car passenger seat on the steeps as he was running back. Blacktop downhill is not the best for the knees.)Edit
enlarge 328KB, 1280x960 18 p2p 117Edit Second Place OVERALL goes to another old timer -- George Williams. George was truly 2nd overall. George ran the "proper course" including the 0.2 mile side wing with the 2 cones marking the turn around. Some runners forgot to make the two cone turn around. Doesn't matter. No matter what anyone says, George was second overall. magnificent accomplishment for Geo. ----- :-) Thanks Dennis. I (Geo) feel kind of badly about it.
(?) Why, you made the proper course and they did not.Edit
