Black and White
1. Black and White
Here are some black and white images that have been taken over the past two years.  There is a mix of infrared (IR) and regular digitals that were converted to black and white - most of the time I used Nik's Silver Efx filter.  Enjoy!

Longwood Gardens - again!
2. Longwood Gardens - again!  (spring 2009)
Here are a mix of shots from Longwood gardens in the late summer 2008 and early spring 2009.  I go there often and have so many images that it's hard picking which ones to put up on the website!  Enjoy!

Smokies Workshop
3. Smokies Workshop  (April 2009)
Enjoyed yet another fabulous workshop with Tony Sweet in the Smokies!  I don't think I will ever tire of going there every year.  As usual - I have processed images using montages, HDR, Nik filters and Fractalius and have added in one that I did to look like a painting.

Henryton, MD
4. Henryton, MD  (March 2009)
These shots were taken at an abandoned hospital in MD - a HUGE caution to anyone going there - make sure you have an asbestos rated respirator to wear for protection - and only take your camera with lens attached - along with tripod - I would not put anything on the ground/floor!  That said, this site is HDR heaven - Tony Sweet introduced me to the place - I'm going to try and get back there to shoot some IR only now that the leaves are out.  Images processed in HDR, then played around with Nik filters and Fractalius.

Old Farms
5. Old Farms   (spring 2009)
Here are some shots taken at: 1) an old family farm in North Carolina that was built in 1862 and, 2) an abandoned farm just south of Milwaukee - spotted from the interstate!  All shots taken for HDR, then played around with montages and various effects using Nik filters and Refield's fractalius.

Old Cars in Hood, VA
6. Old Cars in Hood, VA  (Dec 27, 2008)
I went with three guys to an old car museum that had old cars in a field behind it - can you think of anyone better to go photograph old cars with?  Don Rosenberger found this place last year and has been sharing it with photographers ever since - so Tony Sweet, Jack Nevitt and I went with him to check it out - and what a find it was.  I can't wait to go back!  Here are some images that I have processed playing around with HDR, montages, Nik Efx 3.0 and Silver Efx.  Enjoy!

Eastern State Penitentiary
8. Eastern State Penitentiary  (10-20-08)
Don Rosenberger and I stopped in Philly on the way back from Tony Sweet's DWG workshop to photograph in the old, historic Eastern State Pen.  After being there for three and a half hours we had to tear ourselves away to hit the road for home before the rush hour.  Tony told us about this place.....and it is awesome...we are planning another trip there in the coming month.  This album has a variety of individual cells, hallways and detail shots.....even Al Capone's cell!  Enjoy.

9. Delaware Water Gap  (Oct 15-19, 2008)
Here are some (there are more) images from a workshop I took with Tony Sweet at the Delaware Water Gap - what a gorgeous venue that was!  The weather was perfect with a mix of overcast light, mist and frost in the mornings and sunny days.....and the color was great.  Tony is so good at getting us to the right place with the right light and weather conditions....thank you Tony!

Cape Cod
10. Cape Cod  (Sept 1-2, 2008)
I was able to stop by Cape Cod on the way home from the workshop in Canada - what an exciting place!  I will definitely have to go back there and spend a few days photographing - it has so much to offer.  I had the good fortune to photograph a replica of the Swedish ship Kalmar Nyckle as it was sailing out of the harbor - that was an awesome sight!  My thanks to Jeff Lovinger for being such a great guide around the area.

Workshop in Edmundston, Canada
11. Workshop in Edmundston, Canada  (Aug 24 - Aug 31, 2008)
Here are a few images from a workshop with Andre Gallant and Freeman Patterson.  The workshop was amazing and I was very inspired by these two wonderful photographers.  My assignment was 'serenity' and images from that assignment are mixed in with other images taken during the week.  We were able to visit a metal scrap yard, two beautiful churches in Edmundston as well as photograph daily in the gorgeous New Brunswick Botanical Garden.  I was very fortunate to have the beautiful Helene pose for me to complete my photo assignment.

Smokey Mountains May 2008
12. Smokey Mountains  May 2008
These images are the result of a workshop I took with Tony Sweet in the Smokies.  The weather was absolutely perfect the whole week, too bad I was sick half the time!  Jim White was also there providing instruction for printing with profiles - it was a fabulous workshop!  I have put in a mix of straight shots, HDR, montages, a ziggy and always IR.  Enjoy!

High Dynamic Range - HDR
15. High Dynamic Range - HDR
I have had so much fun taking shots to process in Photomatix and make an image in HDR.  My best success has been with scenes, architecture and objects.  Macro does not work so well.  On the image titles there may be "x1" or "x2", etc. - this refers to how many times I have tonemapped the image - the more tonemapping - the more 'grunge' the look.  I have included some images that I tonemapped one time and then next to it will be the same image done three or four times - what a difference!

My Garden
16. My Garden
This album features shots taken in my garden.  I will be adding to it during the year - I like to photograph in the garden during the different seasons.  There will be some straight shots, montages, multiples and ziggies.  Haven't done any HDR yet in the garden, but that will be coming along soon - just waiting for the right cloud formations!  Some of the shots will be just to show the colors that are going on at any particular time in the garden.  Hope you enjoy!

Behind Textured Glass
17. Behind Textured Glass
Here are a few shots of various flowers/objects that were positioned behind a pane of textured glass.  I can't wait to try printing some of these out on a textured substrate to make them look like an oil painting!

Longwood Gardens
18. Longwood Gardens  (March 2008)
These images were taken over the past two years.  The blue poppies were shot in March 2007 and 2008.  Not as many poppies this year, but was able to focus on more HDR work and play around with multiples and ziggies.

Infrared Images
19. Infrared Images
These images were shot with a Nikon D70, and more recently a D2X that was converted to infrared.  Some images are 'straight' shots, while others have been montaged, and a few done in HDR.  Sometimes I would get a color in the infrared image, like the blue in the sunflower and iris images, and at other times I would get a pink cast as seen in the radiator room.  IR is always a surprise!

These are macro shots of flowers/objects taken over the past two years.  My favorite subjects are flowers - what a surprise!  Most of the flowers I grow in my garden or greenhouse (the plummeria tree lives in there).
