EMERALD:Green precious stone that belongs to the beryl group of stones that include aquamarines. All emeralds contain inclusions,which are evidence of the genuineness of the stone.Usually treated with colorless oil,wax or natural and synthetic resins into voids or dyed to improve appearance. Synthetic emeralds are hard to distinguish from natural emeralds.

RUBY:As already discussed.

SAPPHIRE:Precious gemstone(a type of corundum)found in a variety of colors from colorless to pink,orange,green,yellow,purple and black and of course blue.Sapphire is always heat treated to intensify,lighten or improve appearance.Six-sided asterism sometimes occur in star sapphires.

MOONSTONE:Semi-translucent(opalescent) stone made of albite and orthoclase feldspar,which cause light to scatter; the albite gives it the bluish color. Can be colorless,yellow,orange,gray or even reddish.Usually set as a cabochon.
