KL7FB 144 MHz 5 KW Power Amplifier
One of my own home brew RF amplifier projects: Modification of a Motorola Quarter Kilowatt Power Amplifier into a 5000-6000 Watt Output 144-146 MHz Linear. The input circuits and output tank was completely redesigned and the small conduction cooled tubes replaced with Eimac 8877/1500A7 triode tubes.

6 KW Output VHF Amplifier
I built this Class AB2 VHF 144 MHz linear power amplifier over 20 years ago by removing the two conduction cooled tetrode tubes and replacing them with two 1500 watt plate dissipation air cooled triode tubes, coverting a Motorola 250W amplifier into one capable of over 5000 watts of output for EME using the moon as a passive satellite/reflector for two way communications. After this one was built and the modification info was published, several others were built by Amateur Radio operators for this use around the world.

Here's a photo of a second unit I built for KL7X. Uses the same mod, but painted to look better with refinements for better air flow.

16X 5.2 WL 144 MHz Yagi Array.pdf
Photo of the large phased cross-Yagi array I built and used with this amplifier to produce strong enough echos off the moon to communicate using SSB voice. Center of the array was at 32 feet of height.
