3. ABOUT US  (2009 - Current)

How It Began:

In the beginning, our kennel prefix was  "Poetic Charms". This prefix was used from 2008 thru 2011.  We retired the Poetic Charms kennel prefix at the end of 2011 after having a lot of puppy buyers wanting to use longer registered names then the United Kennel Club (UKC) would allow them to use due to the spaces allowed for letters, symbols and  spaces available. In January of 2012 we introduced our new kennel prefix "Rose Hill" and we have used it ever since. All of our whippets were shown in UKC (United Kennel Club) with one exception and she was shown in UKC & AKC (American Kennel Club).
We always knew at some point we would retire all of our whippets and make the move to a smaller breed and we honestly feel that that day has come. All of our whippets are retired and there will not be another litter of Whippets born here at Rose Hill Whippets. However, we do have breeding agreements to honor using a couple of our males as a stud but once those are fulfilled, Rose Hill Whippets will come to a tearful end. Even though we will no longer be breeding and showing whippets, we will always love the breed of dog that stole our hearts.

New Beginnings:

Our kennel prefix for our Rat Terriers and AHT's is "Rose Hill", we see no reason to change our kennel prefix just because we have different breeds of dogs now.

In May of 2012 we purchased our very first American Hairless Terrier after being surprised with the news that we had a puppy with our name on it and she was meant to be ours if we wanted her. This puppy  introduced us to the life of owning and showing a totally hairless dog.
In August 2016 we purchased our very first Standard Rat Terriers. We have always admired this breed and knew at some point in our lives we would own one or more of these beautiful dogs.
In November of 2016 we purchased our second American Hairless Terrier. Knowing that we were going to retire our Whippet breeding program, the American Hairless Terriers gave us a direction that we were looking for and so with that, our next journey begins.
Taking the lead that the AHT's have given us, we have decided to take that first BIG step into the AHT's and the Rat Terriers. For those who know the history behind the AHT's, they know that the Rat Terrier and the AHT are very closely related to each other.

We now look forward to this next journey in life with our AHT's and Rat Terriers and we can't wait to get back into the show ring. With any luck we'll have some of our very own "Rose Hill" bred dogs coming up in the near future.

How to download photos from any of my albums:

Browse the photos until you find one you want. Click on that photo and it will open to a larger photo. In the blue-shaded box beneath the larger photo you will see the words “Other sizes”. Choose ORIGINAL size & click on it. It may take a few seconds to load depending on your internet.

You will now see a very large photo, probably bigger than your screen. There are slide bars to move around the photo. You can choose smaller sizes, but first let’s save this ORIGINAL size. So, right click anywhere on that ORIGINAL size photo. You should see some computer choices to make. One of them should say something like “Save Picture As…..”. Click on that choice. It will then allow you to save this hi-resolution photo to wherever you save such things on your computer. This will be a relatively large file of 3-5000+ kb size. Do not save the smaller sizes for print because they’ll have less resolution, better known as “clarity”. You can copy this file to a flash drive, or burn to a cd, or email (assuming your email allows large size files) and take the file to a photo store, or send away to one of the on-line photo printers. If you would like to open & save one of the smaller size photos, that would be fine also, but use the ORIGINAL for reproductions and printing. You may want to crop the photo to get the print area you desire. You can do that on your computer or wherever you have files printed. There is no cost for downloading photos, but you will have to pay to have prints made wherever.

Event photos will remain permanently in the photo album. You can link any one photo or the entire album & send it to family members, friends, or acquaintances. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at:

House for filming
11. House for filming  (November 13, 2017)
This is a ranch style house located in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Northridge (aka Sherwood Forest) and is in close proximity to Cal State University of Northridge.  The property has a circular driveway.  There is a brick walking path along with brick seating walls adding depth and interest to the yard.  The landscaping in the front of the house is flowering California native with three large orange trees.  The street is wide and located in a quiet neighborhood that is friendly to filming.  The backyard has mature trees and grass.  There is a large pool and a separate spa along with a redwood swing and slide structure.  The inside of the house has an expansive step down living room with high vaulted ceilings and a lot of natural light.  The floor in this room is a light travertine tile.  The fireplace is large and is made up of used brick with a wood mantle.  There is a large built-in white cabinet that makes for a nice back drop.  The kitchen has a vintage look with knotty pine cabinets, yellow and green tile countertops and the original 1953 cooktop.  The dining area is off of the kitchen and has knotty pine wainscoting. The family room also features a corner brick fireplace, high ceilings and wood flooring.  The house is located on almost a half an acre.  Street parking is plentiful.  There are two classic cars that may be available for filming as well.  Thank you for your consideration.
