wtM1800447 Sheeting water and chasm clip E Much of the Martian landscape viewed in this image appears to be viewed through water. It looks like there is a water mark around the top of the light-colored dome in the top part of the image. Additionally, the reflective qualities shown around the base of the dome suggest flowing water. It may be that there is surface water on Mars only at certain times and in certain places. I am speculating that in some areas the surface water is caused by daytime temperatures that are in the range of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, melting exposed ice or ice that is just beneath the surface. In the lower area of the image where the water appears to deepen there is the impression of faint surface fracturing and reticulation consistent with surface ice that is breaking up.
