Before our Rat Terriers are bred they are taken to our vet for a check up, and cleared for breeding!
All of our dogs have either tested clear or are cleared by parentage of Primary Lens Luxation.
Primary Lens Luxation: PLL has been found in many of the terrier breeds, as well as other dog breeds.
Rat Terriers are among the affected terrier breeds. PLL is a late-onset disease, and usually doesn't show up until dogs are 4 and 8 years old.
PLL can be very painful, can cause "teary, red eyes that may look hazy or cloudy, and, if not treated, may lead to Uveitis and Glaucoma".
Dogs with this require immediate treatment.
