Bridge in Giverny by Claude Monet.
We went our first BYOB The Art Party.  We had a fabulous time.  There were seven of us.  I'm thinking the tickets were purchased from Groupon.  My friend Jean bought mine for my birthday.

We first all met at the Olive Garden for good food, friends, and conversation.  Then on to downtown Plano the party, which, by the way, was bustling.

We chose for our painting the Bridge in Giverny by Claude Monet.

The only one who really knew what we were "getting into" was Cathy.  The rest . . . as they say, was history.

It was just the best of times.

This is the picture which we were to paint.  You're given a choice of paintings to choose from, and this is the one that Cathy choose for us.  It was a good choice.

Now that I think of it, that may not be correct, because everyone in the studio (and I'd say there were 30 - 50 of us) painted the same picture.

Cathy.  She's the one who started this whole evening.  She liked this painting. I think it should be called "self portrait."

Sue getting ready.  The Art Party people provide wine glasses, or I suppose others, for your beverage of choice, which you bring.

Each of us got a tray of paint. the professional painters told us how to mix our paints, and how to use them.

We all started with a blank canvas.  Each canvas had three pencil lines on it which represented the bridge, and the edge of the lilly pond.

We could see on the big screen what she painted on the small  canvas in back.

The three lines represent the bridge and the edge of the lilly pond.

The instructors wanted us to have fun with it, be like a five year old, paint freely, and let them guide us.

That was more difficult for some of us than others . . until we adopted the mantra "we don't care.  We just don't care."  You'd have to have been there, but we know.  Thank you Marianne.

The other thing our instructors  told us was if we brought a camera, take a picture of our progression throughout the evening.

And so we begin.

Lilly Pads.

They tell us how to mix our paint, which of the three brushes to use, what kind of stroke to use.
