Hey, hey. India nearly done - fly to Iran tomorrow. Hoping my pictures will upload today as Bombay actually has some braodband although it is still as likely as an iPSL project going live on time! To sum up India... Fantastic place with some really amazing places but not sure I would come back till they clean it up a bit. An experience unlike anything i have had and although people describe various aspects of it, it never is as vivid as the real thing (For example, 50+ people appearing and staring at us whenever we stopped in the countryside. Not agressive in any way but curious.) Before Bombay we must have seen a dozen Westerners total in 3 weeks! So it is little wonder we were celebs! Anyhow, Iran may prove more limited in my email / posting options so may be quiet ofr a 10 days. Hope all is well (save me some roast beef!!!) M

"Dad: Beware the camel drivers. They like blue eyed western boys!! (03/19/05)" Hi Mart. Sounds like you have something in common already. Hurry up and post some pix. What is travelling in the truck like, and how long are you on the road at a time. Is everyone taking the malaria tablets, and if not are the ones not taking them OK. I know someone who had to stop taking them, as they made him very bad. Enjoy yourself and keep posting.

All better. India is MAD. Everything you hear and are told are not enough to truely apprecate the place. The people are very friendly, when we stop at village for lunch we get a crowd of 40+ people just staring at us. Very scary to start with)

Anyway - left Dehli ad went to Pakistan border - There is a gate there with Indias on one side Pakistanies on other, crowds hckle each other music plays and they take down their flags then close the Gate into Pakistan. Weird.
Then Amritsar  - Golden Temple very impressive
then down towards Bikaner - Rat Temple (few hundred of  em so little disaapinted. Plus fort very nice.
Then south into desert - currently at Jaisalmer and off for overnight camel safari today sleeping in te desert with camel!!
Jodpur day after tomorrowthen down towards Mumbai.

Eating lots of Veg curries!! (even fronm roadside 'truck-stops' which is where we have lunc when on the road. Very hot, very smelly but good fun
